“Are you all right?” I asked Lawrence.
He nodded, but his mouth twisted into a grimace. “I’d always taken the tale of Uncle Augie literally, you know? It’s tough to find out that a legend you took to be true is a fairy tale. No offense.”
I squeezed his hand. “None taken. I felt that way much of the time I was in Faerie, but about my memories. At least your mother hasn’t tried to kill you yet.”
“Not that we know of.”
Minerva caught up to us as we approached the visitor’s center. “What exactly are you looking for with this tour?” She motioned to the building and the town beyond. “You’re not going to find anything, you know.”
