I woke up in the middle of the night, screaming. Kaylee was there, awoken from her light slumber when I started thrashing, hatred and anger and fear burrowing deep inside me. She was being abused. Right now. By someone that could clearly over power her. I ripped through my pillows and Kaylee tried to hold me down. "Liam!" She yelled my name but I was seeing red now. I wanted to shred anyone that dared to touch what was mine.
I heard Kaylee scream and suddenly felt a hot liquid on my nails. But they weren't nails anymore. Cortez was going nuts and my claws were coming out. Kaylee... s**t! I wanted to make sure she was okay but I couldn't stop thrashing and screaming. At some point, about five large body guards of mine ran in and successfully managed to hold me down. I do remember biting one but like a true champ, he didn't let go of me.
It finally stopped an hour later and I went still. The guards carefully released me, but I wasn't planning on moving again for hours. I passed back out right away, the tears drying on my cheeks. I couldn't even bring myself to care that some of my guards saw my weakness.
I woke up once more at noon, feeling exhausted. I sat up slowly, pain nearly causing me to fall back. But I didn't. I had to get up. I sniffed the air. "Blood...?" I looked at my claws and my eyes widened in horror. Kaylee's blood. Oh no... Please say she is alright... I swung my legs over the edge of the bed, wincing when I felt a burst of pain in my ribs.
Ramirez walked in then. He is the biggest of the guards I have. And my most trusted. My personal guard. My gaze fell to his hand and I noticed he had a large bite mark in his arm and a chunk taken out of his hand. "Ramirez... I'm sorry." I realized he was the guard I kept biting. The one that wouldn't let go. But he didn't even look like he was in pain at all. He was finishing wrapping the one on his arm with medical wrap.
His honey skin was almost shiny in the sun beaming through the large windows in my room. He ran his fingers through his messy and sweat filled raven black hair. Ramirez's hazel eyes met mine and he shook his head. "Kaylee is fine. She sent me to check on you." I let out a sigh of relief.
"I'm glad she's okay... I'm fine too... I guess..." He definitely didn't believe me because he raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms over his chest. I sighed. "I'm not okay." He nodded for me to continue, so I did. "I found my mate but she's being abused... it’s so bad that she has broken several ribs and possibly gotten hurt in even more horrible ways...”
The second I said the last word, his whole body language went from 'I'm tough, I can take down a bull. Nothing phases me.' To completely shocked. His shoulders fell and he looked at me with pity. I didn't want the pity he gave but I figure there is no way around it. "Alpha, I'm sorry you had to suffer through that. Can I get you anything?" He asked me and I thought for a while before nodding.
"Yes. a report on our progress in finding my princess." I spoke, some of the authority returning to my voice. He looked at me, a small frown formed on his lips. Ramirez had never been afraid to look me in the eyes, even when I was using the full force of my alpha aura. I respected him for that.
"I hate to inform you that all we have been able to go is eliminate a few of the packs from possibilities of where she could be." I raised my eyebrow, indicating for him to continue. "Any of the packs from the Sapphire clan." I nodded slowly, then growled low under my breath.
That only takes out six packs out of the large variety of other packs. Blue Moon, Olympic Moon, Azure Moon, Sky Moon, Lapis Moon, and of course Sapphire Moon. They were close 'friends' of ours, therefore easier to search for our princess. But that was still only a small portion of the packs and I'm not on the best of terms with all of them. I snapped my fingers, ignoring the pain that lingered in my ribs when I moved my arm up. "Check the Blood Moon next. Our alliance with them is better than with the other two."
He opened his mouth as if to argue but I shot him a glare and he thought better of it. "Right away, alpha." He said quickly, then turned and left. Silence fell over me and I let out a loud groan. The pain was dull now, I could barely feel it, so I stood up and made my way to the bathroom. I winced when I got there and looked at myself. I guess no one had wanted to come near me after I freaked out like that.
My hands still had blood on them and my chin was covered in Ramirez's blood. I could smell it. It was so strong, the metallic scent burned my nostrils. I wasted no more time in washing my face to at least lessen the pain of smelling his blood. Then I stripped my clothes and hopped into the shower. It felt amazing to wash the blood, sweat and tears off my body.
I'll get you, my mysterious princess... I promise...
