"Bring out the b****y criminal, right now !!! this instant, so she can face her punishment." Rose bellowed at the guards.
It was the following morning and the members of the councils had arrived to hold the trial for Elena's case.
"Your ladyship..." The leader of the guards began as he approached Rose, his face gloom.
"What is wrong?" Rose snapped at him.
"We can't find the criminal in the dungeon, anymore." He informed a very stunned Rose.
"What do you mean by that, you incompetent fool?" Rose growled at him menacingly. The guard swallowed hard, dreading what could befall him.
"Forgive me, your ladyship. As you have ordered, we separated the two women and put Elena in another cell. But I got to that cell earlier and found nobody in there. I am afraid, she has escaped." He explained.
Immediately after the last word got out of his mouth, Rose gave him a punch in the groin, kicking him so hard that he went flying backwards.
"You incompetent old fool! How did a frail lady escape under your watch?" She yelled at him furiously. The errant guard despite the pain he was feeling in his groin, quickly got on his knees and started pleading for forgiveness.
"My men were on watch outside the cell. How she escaped was a mystery. I think she has an accomplice within the pack. Please forgive me!" The guard said pleadingly.
"You want me to have mercy on you and not behead you? Then go out there and search everywhere. Bring her to me either dead or alive." Rose barked at the man.
"Actually, it would be better if you bring her alive. That way, I can make an example of her before the others." She added.
"Yes, your ladyship." The guard replied obediently and got up. Then he called on some of his subordinates and they ran out of the premise.
"Those idiots! Just how did they allow her to escape?" Rose yelled at the empty space, her chest heaving in fury.
"When I finally lay my hands on that Omega, I am going to firstly rip her eyes out and feed them to her." She swore, her eyes darting around the surrounding as if she would just caught whiff of her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Wait, how... How did I end up here?" Elena asked rhetorically as her eyes darted around her surrounding. She had just opened her eyes and found herself in the middle of nowhere.
It was in the woods. And she found herself on the ground, barefooted and b****y.
"What happened? What is happening to me?" She yelled, breathing heavily.
"I was supposed to be in the cell... Where is Lena?" She asked, her voice getting lower at that point as she was scared.
"Wait, did I perhaps die after the trial? But that would be if the trial actually took place. The trial was supposed to be this morning..." Elena rushed out breathlessly at the realization of some things, which only got her more confused.
"What happened last evening ..." She wondered, ransacking her brain only to find nothing. She couldn't remember anything other than talking to Lena about how she could be the real criminal.
*FLASHBACK*
"What do you mean by that, Elena? What did you do?" Lena had whispered fearfully, her confidence getting punctured instantly at Elena's statement.
"That is the problem. I don't remember what I did." Elena had gritted out, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"You have to try to remember it. Otherwise, you are in serious danger. You are going to lose your life if we don't have a way to prove that you are innocent." Lena had explained to her, as calm as possible.
"Lena, I don't think I am innocent. I think I did something. As I prepared the tea, I ..." Elena was saying but got interrupted by the sound of the door.
The door creaked open and some guards burst into the cell.
"What now?" Lena snapped at the guards, trying to hide her pounding heart under the facade of her straight face.
"You are in no position to question us, woman." One of the guards retorted and the others bundled Elena out of the cell.
"Where are you taking her to?" Lena shouted after them but got no response and they slammed the door shut.
*END OF FLASHBACK*
"And they took me to another cell. That was what happened. So, how did I get here?" Elena yelled in frustration as she couldn't remember more than that.
"What is happening to me?" She asked the cold forest and all she got in response was the sound of the wind. Afterwards, she started hearing footsteps approaching where she was.
As an Omega, her werewolf's senses were weak so that meant they were closer.
She quickly got up on her feet, ignoring the protest of her frail legs and sore body.
"Search everywhere for her. We can't go back without her." Elena heard a gruff voice she recognized to belong to the leader of her pack's guards. Then she became alarmed.
"No, I can't let them take me back to that hellhole." She muttered and took to her heels.
"How did I even get myself into this mess?" Elena sobbed as she ran. Her aching body was slowing her down but she kept going.
"I can't breathe..." Elena murmured, slowing down.
"I can sniff her. She is near." She heard the gruff voice again as she stopped for a moment. She knew the guards after her were near so she immediately picked her weak body and continued running.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Pl... Please moon goddess! Help me. Save me." Elena sobbed as she dragged her tired feet on the ground.
She had been running nonstop for over an hour and her frail body couldn't take it anymore. Blood was rushing to her pounding head and she felt fainting.
"Will I survive this or this is the end of my pathetic life?" That was the last thing she could mutter before embracing darkness.
