LUIS
Ed Sheeran lied!
"The club isn't the best place to find love" they said. A huge fallacy, I say.
One would think that was what meant to be a one night fling with a strange lady at the club, would end like every other one.
But the last was different.
It had been days since that crazy night, but her face remained in my mind. Everything about her marvelled me- Those darting eyes of hers, her welcoming smile and perfect skin which I could still feel the touch on my fingertips.
What was her name again? Maria? It never mattered. All that made sense was the energy between us that night.
We just met for the first time, but it seemed like I had known her for decades.
It was only a night with Maria, but I feared it would take an eternity to get her off my head.
I was stuck between going after her or letting it remain what it should be - just one of those nights.
"She's probably like every other girl in the club. Loose and for all. Forget about her!" One part of me said.
But it wasn't that easy. I still found myself scrolling through my phone for any signs of her, but there was none. Nobody at the club knew who she was, so there was no way I could get to the mystery lady.
All I could remember was waking up that morning without the woman I just had an amazing night with.
The only thing I could find was her Social Security card which must have fallen off her bag as we were deep in romance.
That was the only clue I had to finding her, and with that, I swung to action- A Mission to find my beloved.
There was only one person whose skills I trusted to find Maria, and that was my friend Bruno, the investigative journalist.
Quickly launching out of my seat, I picked up my phone and dialed his number.
"Hey, man. I Need a favour real quick" I burst out, as he picked up.
"I'm all ears" Bruno replied.
"I need you to track down someone for me. I've got her Social Security number." I chipped in.
"Whoa, hold up. A lady? What's going on? Have you been defrauded?" He asked, his voice laced with concern.
"No! Not that... Just this girl... we had a thing few nights ago, but there's just something about her I can't seem to shake off"
"Luis, you're joking, right? You've got girls lining up at your doorstep. Why put me through all these stress for a girl you barely know?" He asked, incredulous.
"Bruno, she's different. Trust me. I've been with a lot of girls, but I've never felt this way before"
"Dude, you're thinking with your hormones. It seems she f****d you real good that you can't think right. For all I know, she could even be a w***e hanging around clubs seeking the next man to warm his bed" Bruno protested.
"Don't say that, Bruno! She's not one of those cheap girls. I just know she's different. Everything about her is. Help me find her" I pleaded.
Bruno sighed. "Think about what you're telling me to do, Luis. You're crossing boundaries. This goes against every journalism ethics"
"Just find her, Bruno. Please. I'll pay anything" I was desperate.
"Fine. But if I do this, you have to promise me one thing: you'll leave her alone if she wants nothing to do with you. You're literally the dream of every girl around here, and shouldn't be this pathetic over a girl"
"Deal" I agreed, knowing fully well I wasn't going to fulfill that promise.
"Alright then. I will get back to you"
I hung up, as my mind raced with possibilities.
What if Bruno wasn't able to find her? Would I be able to live with the thoughts that I would never meet Maria again? I hoped for the best.
Fingers crossed and pacing around my office, I made a prayer that the search may be fruitful, my heart beating faster with every word I uttered.
About thirty minutes later, I got a call from Bruno, and I quickly picked without letting it ring twice.
"He... Hey, Bruno. Any good news already?" Anxiety took over me.
"Calm your nerves, Luis. I have just found the lady and her precise location"
