I didn’t cry. Not while I was packing.
My hands were numb. The mate bond was gone, but the pain was still there. Like a hole in my chest that wouldn’t close.
My father stood in the doorway. His face was red with fury and shame.
"You have until sunrise to leave this house," he spat. "You embarrassed this family. An Omega rejected by the Alpha? Do you know what they’re saying about us?"
I kept my eyes down. What could I say? He was right.
I was a disgrace.
I grabbed one bag. Clothes. The locket my mother gave me before she died. Some money I had saved in secret. That was it. My whole life fit in one bag.
By 3am I was walking out of the Blackwood territory gates. The guards didn’t even look at me. I was nothing to them now.
The night air was cold. The forest was dark and endless. I had no home. No pack. No mate.
The rejection still burned under my skin. Every step hurt.
But as I walked deeper into the trees, something else started to burn.
Anger.
I had been weak. I had let them treat me like dirt.
Not anymore.
I placed my hand over my chest where the bond used to be.
"I will survive," I whispered to the darkness.
"I will get stronger."
"And one day, Alpha Carter will regret the day he rejected me."
Behind me, the pack howled.
In front of me, only darkness and possibility.
I kept walking.
