As Clifford returned from getting himself ready, he noticed that the captain had left with about twenty five soldiers despite his instruction. So he asked those that were left. "How many soldiers amongst you saw the young lady who was here earlier seeking for a prince called Alvat?"
Then a few of them put up their hands saying at random. 'I saw her', 'I can recognize her when I see her', 'I would be able to identify her.' and their responses made the place rowdy.
"Enough!" Clifford shouted and they all became calm. "Since you will be able to identify them, some of you would be coming with me so we can find her just as the Queen had instructed." Then Clifford chose fifteen soldiers to go with him while the rest was to continue safeguarding the palace.
As they got on their horses to leave
