Chapter Twenty-Six
GOODBYESTina’s presence in the cabin acted like a fire damper, crushing all joviality from the girls. It introduced an atmosphere of heaviness and Phoenix struggled beneath its weight. Deep sighs of sadness issued from around the room as its occupants settled down for the night without their usual chatter.
“Lights out!” Tina barked as her stubby finger flicked the switch. She cursed as she fell over discarded footwear on her way back to her bunk. Phoenix heard a muted snigger which sounded like it came from Lexi. Grinning to herself in the darkness, she rolled onto her side to face the wall. She imagined the other girl setting more elaborate traps for Tina as the week progressed.
