Alec didn’t even slow down, he walked straight past us. His eyes flicked to mine for the briefest second—cold, empty, completely detached—before sliding away again like I wasn’t even there. Like I was just another stranger standing in the hallway. Nothing. He kept walking, the sound of his boots echoing against the tiled floor until he disappeared around the corner toward the gym. The hallway seemed to breathe again but whispers started almost instantly, spreading from one group to another as everyone processed what they’d just witnessed. I didn’t need to hear the words to know what they were saying. Gio let out a low whistle before turning to me, a slow grin spreading across his face. “Damn,” he murmured, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction. “So the rumors are true.” “What rumors?”
