"I'm Shina Ambers" "oh I've heard a lot bout your grannies in medical field and draws me into a lot more expectations from you, your ancestors are one of the best doctors in the history of medicine in Greece" "I will do my best" "why didn't you take med?" "I guess I wanted to be more hands on with my patients and not just prescribing meds for them" I gave out a smile just the thought of it; I guess I meant it "Oh! That’s good! I can see the passion in there but you know that nursing has limits while being a doctor means you can do just everything, I mean all scopes of medical and clinical practice” "well, I'll think bout that sir but for now I'll focus on my prep first" I had this conversation years ago with my professor which made me think right now when my Aunt Vernice who is a famous surgeon persuade me to proceed med. "why not dear? I'm already old and you're the youngest in fact the last in our family to inherit the skills" "old? is 45 years that old already? and the way you said it feels like it's not in my blood and you're gonna put it in your last will hahaha" "oh actually I already did dear" "what?" "when I die next week you'll see! and however you face life without me is your choice, just don't forget what I'm always telling you" I don’t really know who made the prophecy of her death from saving me but right now, I don’t actually believe it! Who cares! I’m not gonna let her die "yeah yeah yeah! that I'd always remember who I am and I'd always trust my instincts cause it always gonna be right" "good dear" "nothing's good bout it Aunt Vernice cause it's not nice to talk bout your death any way or another, you'll not gonna die cause I'm not letting you to" "I wish my instincts are wrong dear" Aunt Vernice smiled at me after a warm hug as if she knew she was right and that moment I've never thought she was. "okay! so if you're right what am I gonna do when you're gone?" "simple! take med and read the books" "there are tons of them Aunt Vernice!" I complained of course "finish it before your birthday" "12 volumes? seriously" "yes!I want you to be prepared for your future" "com'on Aunt Vernice! those books are just evolution and history, there's no way it can be happening in this generation" "dear! remember! when I'm gone don't trust anybody, most of them are scared of you and surely a lot of those wants you dead" "why?" "because you are biggest threat, you are the most powerful in our kind, you are The Last Royal Apotheca" "Aunt Vernice I've read the history but I don't think I can believe all of them, as long as I don't see them then I’m not obliged to think they're real right?" "of course dear! but if you ever wanna learn more bout it, you know where to find it, it's all in the books, the maps, the meds, the people, the history, the weapon and how you deal with them, it's all in there." "okay stop with the history Aunt Vernice, fine! I'll proceed medicine in one condition, you can't die until my birthday comes" "I can't promise you that dear, but I promise that before my last breath I will make sure you've got all you need" "hahaha there we go again to history, okay whatever Aunt Vernice, bye I have to go now, my shift starts at 11" Quarter to 11 when I arrived in University Hospital El Greco... "Endorsing new patient, room 101 admitted and diagnosed by Dr Veron with Colon Cancer. IV started, antibiotics and chemo drugs ordered, DNR signed by the son as requested by the patient, oxygen attached, DAT and IO monitoring q 12hours" "k thanks" I continued encoding my name in the attendance registry of the hospital's computer system. "that's all? or do I need to..." she didn't finish as I interrupted her right away "hahaha go babe! Kevin is waiting in the lobby" Hailey endorsed only one patient since I already knew all the others admitted in that female oncology ward. "thanks babe! you're the best" I can see how excited she is to see Kevin, he was her boyfriend and I saw him just when I came in UHEG "Ikr" Hailey is my bestfriend, and no girl can ever survive without one I know, but in our case she's the one who can't survive without me hahaha She went out and I did my rounds, all the other patients are expectedly stable or if not I know I can manage except for one, room 101 new patient. "like WTF mom! why would you tell me to kill her? I'm not a murderer" I heard the young man said when I came in, whatever they're talking bout made my nerves thrill with fear at some point but I tried to be professional, with all the fake smile I can portray. "excuse me!my name is Shina, the graveyard nurse for tonight, the name is Mrs. Vienna Maxwell right?" I was looking at the patient's chart trying to look normal but I know they were looking at me "yes, right" "okay so you were prescribed with an antibiotic to be given at 12am,chemo drugs 6am after 5am bed bath, vital signs to be monitored every 2hours, please don't touch anything in the monitor or the IV, if you need anything just give us a bell" I pointed the red button in the bed frame intended for emergency or whenever they wanna call the attention of the staffs, it’s connected to the nurses’ station. "okay" Vienna smiled at me and I smiled back, I was supposed to look at the son but intentionally he turned his back so I just went straight back to the door and went out. The warm air in my throat went out like as if my breath was shallow when inside. Why would I feel that way? They’re just people! but it felt like they're not! ugh! this feeling again! That actually was one of the times when my instincts are right. ONE WEEK LATER... "Tell us where the last royal apotheca is!!!" I was in the attic that according to my aunt and the books, was not visible to any human eye or even animal eye? how was that even believable? but yes! she was right, I can hear them and see them but they can't see me from above, the attic in their eyes was just an empty ceiling I was crying because I know what's gonna happen but I can do nothing, Aunt Vernice strictly instructed me, her life or my life will be taken today so if I go out I'll surely die. That supposed to mean that she has to die for me and those two men will definitely kill her. "Uncle I think the woman we're looking for isn't here" "I know, but she is an apotheca too, we can bring her head to the org" "they won't accept her, she is weak! we have to find the right apotheca" "if we come back without bringing anyone, one of us will be dead meat" "we can tell them that the last apotheca escaped" "do you think they'll give a damn on your excuses? you are new at this so listen to me, if we let this apotheca go she will either warn the other to hide or she will personally hide her, it will be harder for us to find her. If we kill her, we will be rewarded at the same time I'm sure the last apotheca will find out about us to take revenge so it's a good thing, we will have them both and be rewarded the second time around" "but uncle we're wasting the lives of unnecessary people just for reward and unsure predictions" "before you forget Revan, all apotheca bloodshed is an honor to our ancestors" And with no warning, that man ripped off Aunt Vernice head. I can never forget how that gift of life and inheritance of my ancestor's skills became a nightmare to me. Yes! I was taken by my anger and never forgotten the faces of those killers, one day! one day! when I'm strong enough, I will kill all Reapers ever breathing in this world. That was the day I took it all seriously. I read each and every book about Kingdom Animalia and all its Phylum Historica but now is the time to read about one book. The Royal Apothecan History... It was written in greek as my ancestors were geeky deep greek centuries and decades ago but it was in my blood, I can read it in all languages, whether in latin, german, french or even ancient greek symbols are readable in my mind. Maybe that is why I can speak all of them with my patients in UHEG whom with different nationality bearing those languages, the gift of being an apotheca is not just being able to comprehend all kinds of people in the world but also animals and other unspecified species known or unknown to human history. I opened the book and it says... "The last apotheca is the strongest of all the apothecan legends, she is the last blood in the royalty. The family was breed in millions by thousands of ages but neither the royalties did know that once upon a life of that great king, King Janus who was married to Queen Lemeridia fell in love first to a young lady named Golgotha, a mere human in the East Coast of Greek Mountainous Region where the King usually sets out a race of horseback riding. He had a child with Golgotha whose name was Prince Lervon, whom the royal family never met until the he died. Lervon married a half breed, got many children that even in poverty and scarcity of anything, he was healthy and happy. Greece had a war with USSR and that was the time when all the bloodlines of King Janus vanished in ashes except one young man who is a grandchild of Prince Lervon in one of his sons, a direct descendant of the Royal Apothecan King who escaped the war and slipped through the Caribbean Rivers, they named him Golganus Apotheca. The Apothecan Lineage was highly recognized in those times until the present because of this gift being transferred from generations to generations. They are known to be strong, highly intelligent and skilled in killing all kinds of animals, humans and half breeds, which are half human and half animals which they call ANIMORA. Nonetheless, Apothecans were everywhere, most of them became fighters because of their undefeated strength, some became witches because of their great spiritual powers, some became kings and political advisors because of their intelligence until the war came when they were not just outnumbered but, they are wiped out and the danger of the extinction of the clan made Golganus change his way of living, he remained low profile in the society to protect his generation drawing all the apothecan people to focus on Medicine, they reign all over the Greece known to be the best doctors in history understanding the depth of science not just of human anthropology but also of the half breeds and their very own blood Apothecans. In the late 16th century, they were not known to kill the half breeds and humans anymore but some wicked Apothecans ignited the world war again by organizing a new clan called Apothecary Squad, killing all kinds of half breeds. Apothecans thought that they were a threat to their existence because they were next in line when it comes to strength, skills and abilities compared to humans who are just basically weak and average. At the same time, all half breeds are warned of the Apothecans killing their bloodlines and that's the time of history when all the rest of the half breeds went hiding in caves, underground houses and secret buildings to keep themselves safe from Apothecans. One day, a group of people outraged knowing their minority status in the community and they organized a secret society called The Apothecan Reapers, aiming to kill all Apotheca in sight. This gave confidence to the Animora Community to surface from hiding and start living along with the humans and a danger to all Apotheca breathing in earth’s surface. Nowadays, humans, half breeds and apothecans are all alike. Nobody can identify the race except the Apothecan themselves who only has the gift to see the real appearance of the Animora and if it doesn't change then they're just mere human beings. Animora appears human in the human sight but in the eyes of an Apotheca, they're half animals with human body parts, they were breeds and combinations of humans and animals with molded genes from their ancestors. Even the revolution was over, Apothecans who are doctors nowadays are still considered killers of the said races, for some past became a present definition for those whose history was made out of the war's bloodshed and vengeance" I stopped reading as I rubbed my eyes. Yeah! I maybe strong compared to all of this creatures as it is said in the books but I'm still human, I get tired and I eat human food too. So that night, I dropped my body to bed where all the books scattered in the sheets after I ate dinner. "I missed you Aunt Vernice" My heart was sad as I curled up under the blanket not thinking that the books were on it. I cried and as I blamed myself of her death, sobbing and wiping my tears back and forth, one of the books fell off. I have to get it, so I slowly move myself and get up. I took the book and it was open in one of the pages where there is a folded paper that looks like it was slipped inside it to hide. So I opened it...
