So Much Of Her Enemy

The next morning was a follow-up of Alyssa's mysterious plans. The morning sun reflected brightly on the dark brown curtain making her squint her eyes tightly. She stirred awake with a soft moan. Fluttering her lethargic eyes, Alyssa felt cramped and stiff, the comfortable mattress did help a great deal to deliver her a peaceful sleep despite her miserable night. She slowly sat up and realized that she was indeed not in her room, but in a room that exhumed manliness and masculinity. Glancing at the whole room, Alyssa couldn't restrain the little smile that tugged at her lips; due to the dark brown and white colors that the entire room was made of. Just then, her sight caught on the white-colored sofa, with a sturdy and tall figure lying somewhat uncomfortably in it. Of course, she knew it was the Young Master of the Devons household. ‘This is sure to work,’ she thought to herself with her eyes staring at his back hollowly. How gentlemanly of him—he chose to lay on the sofa even when he knew he'd hardly fit it, while she slept comfortably on his bed. The thought made the two corners of her lips stretch to a genuine smile, and her eyes glimmered softly. Making her radiant beauty exposed in the dawn of the morning. She looked down at his shirt on her body, subconsciously, her hands moved to grasp onto it. A thought she shouldn't have, crossed her mind, but she shook her head, wading it off before it could even budd into something forbidden. ‘Knock, knock’ A loud bang dragged her out of her reverie and she realized she had something more important to achieve. Stealing a glance at Nathan who's far gone into slumber, she hastily ruffled her fingers through her hair like a mad woman. The shirt that was decently strapped around her body, was in the next second pulled to the side roughly. With the two top buttons undone. Her toes touched the rugged floor first as she alighted the bed. Once her feet were stable, she carefully traipsed to the bathroom, meticulously closing the door, making sure it didn't produce any sound that would disrupt his sleep. Her hands reached for the shower and turned it on. When the water began to cascade down, she scooped a handful and threw it on her face, giving it a proper wash. When she was done, Alyssa exited the bathroom quietly. Luckily, Nathan was still fast asleep. She felt bad because she was aware he was up all night looking after her. She approached the door, just in time to hear the knock resonate again. Fixing her appearance, Alyssa huffed out a breath, readying herself before she held the doorknob and twisted it open. It was a maid on the other side. Her expression turned docile, ready to play the role she came for. Her big eyes looked innocently at the maid. “Good morning,” she initiated the greetings. Her eyes noticed how the maid scrutinized her appearance from head to toe. “Morning,” of course, Alyssa noticed how distracted the maid was just by eyeing her appearance. Diverting her gaze downwards, the fancy tray of covered plates stole her attention. Her hands subconsciously ran to her belly as she rubbed on it. Indeed, she was famished! That damn drug had taken a huge toll on her body. Scared of her expression revealing too much, Alyssa smiled at the maid. “I will take that,” she outstretched her arm to take it. “Oh, ah—yes,” only then did the maid come to her senses, realizing she was staring too much. “The young Master had ordered this earlier,” she said, her suspicious gaze darting from Alyssa to inside the room, trying to get a glimpse of Nathan. “Oh, he's still asleep, I'll take this then,” Alyssa responded while taking the tray into her own hands. She stood there and waited until the maid—with so much reluctance—left the premises. Only then did she return, shutting the door. She took the food to a little fancy corner at the end of the room, where a mini chair and table were situated—well, of course in dark brown and plain white colors. The sight brought a smile across her lips again as she thought, ‘Does he really have to make his favorite colors this obvious?’ So much for a mysterious underworld devil! Or could it be that she had infiltrated the wrong mansion? Nah! They're the ones. The luxury, God! Her thoughts were straying, and it wasn't what she was trained all her life to do. Sighing, she turned around to head back to bed, planning on waiting for her plans to patiently unfold. But she paused when her eyes caught sight of Nathan's—rather uncomfortable sleeping figure. He looked rather harmless and beautiful like an innocent man untainted by the world. The sight made Alyssa wonder if he wasn't from this family and if by chance she wasn't who she was, perhaps this beautiful man would be hers. “God, what am I thinking?” she immediately shunned herself from the unwanted thoughts that intruded her mind. “Focus Alyssa, focus!” Her mantra didn't seem to work, because, in the next second, she found her legs having a mind of their own, strolling towards the sofa where he lay, now facing the ceiling, with his head placed on top of his arms, and his long legs barely fitting into the sofa's length. Again, she was unaware when she had squatted to take a closer look at his gorgeousness. Something she could see but not touch. Wait…who said she couldn't touch it? It should be something she can see, and touch, but not have…can never have! Following the voice whispering in her ears to do that one thing she was itching to do, just like her legs, Alyssa found her hands willfully against her control. Of course, she knew where they were headed, she couldn't stop them—she didn't want to. By the time she was near enough, her fingers almost grazing his face, dark grey eyes were glaring at her with much intensity. And she realized that her reaching hands were grabbed in a tight grip. Those eyes…they reminded her so much of her enemy!
