Chapter 7

613 Words
CHARMAINE'S POV I'm laying in bed reading. Did I mention I love reading? no? well I do. It takes me to a totally different world- a world of imaginations. I prefer reading to watching TV because it allows me to use my imagination more. I have the liberty of imagining the characters how ever I want, be it their appearance, nationality, accent and so on, making up the scenes in my head. Most people find it weird that I'd rather read a book than watch Tv, but for me, it's pure bliss. non scappare da me, vieni a me, moi Tesoro. [don't run away from me, come to me,my Treasure] I squealed mentally. I've always been a sucker for nicknames. Oh yeah, I speak foreign languages too, I learnt them from reading books. I speak Russian, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, German, and a little Japanese. I'm really proud of myself for being able to learn all those languages just through books. No, sei un uomo cattivo, sei cattivo per me [no, you're a bad man, you're bad for me] Just go meet that damn man, Camilla. A little toxicity never hurt anyone, and besides he'll be super protective of you. I scream mentally at the female lead of the book I hear a knock at my door and I freeze That's strange, nobody in this house ever knocks, they all just barge into my room as if hoping to catch me doing something wrong I hear the knock again so I hide underneath my covers and hoped that the person would eventually give up and leave thinking there's no one inside The person knocked again and I'm certain the person knows I'm inside "come on Char, I know you're in there" the person drawled It's a man but he doesn't sound normal. He sounds psychotic who is he? and how does he know my name? The knocks become more frantic and, slowly graduating to loud bangs I start hyperventilating and if I don't calm myself down soon, I'll have and attack and pass out and that's the worst thing that could probably happen to me right now as I'll be left vulnerable to whoever is behind that door. Now that I come to think of it, that voice sounds oddly familiar but I haven't heard it in long time so I've forgotten who it belongs to. At this point, the man is banging so hard and I think the door's going to break any minute from now I'm trying to focus on calming my breathing down when I realize that the bangs had stopped and now the house is eerily silent almost as if everything that just happened was only a dream. What just happened? was that real? it had to be. I uncovered myself and slowly walked to the door. I opened it slightly and took a peek, there was none there. I closed the door and slid down against it. What's going on? am I just imagining things? no, it happened, I'm sure of it. A light bulb lit over my head and I checked the door hinges. With the way that guy was banging on the door, there must have been a little damage to the hinges and I was right!. I checked the hinges and they were almost out, If he'd continued banging, the door would've come off. This made me at ease for a while because now, I know I'm not crazy, it actually happened. Then I froze in my tracks, I'm pretty sure my face is drained of all colour. There was a maniac at the house, he knew my name and he was trying to get me.
