It’s been three days since I met Shay, and I still don’t know how to process that he may be my son. When Aoife left suddenly, I thought it was because she found a better job elsewhere, away from the depraved. But when I saw the little boy with blond hair and blue eyes, I realize she left for another reason. For the first time in a long time, I was speechless. All I could do was stare at the wee lad who can be no more than five years old. He didn’t cower. He stood tall, watching me just as curiously as I was him.
