The Truth

Nyla's pov I speed over the trees with tears running down my cheeks, not knowing what to doabout the fight, I come up to a lake with the full moon sparkling on the water. I land at the edge of the water and sit down feeling overwhelmed by the whirlwind of questions Luke asked. I don't even know what to do, or how to explain any of this to him. I understand why he is upset but I wish he didn't snap at me like that I don't know how I'm going to make this right. I lift an orb of water moving it around through the air in front of me, thinking over everything he said, feeling like crap for upsetting him so much. Lost in thought I look over the water as a stick snaps behind me. I jump to my feet looking around as my tail whips around, and my wings flare out I stand ready for a fight, I look through the trees almost unable to see who's approaching. "I know your there, get your ass out here now!" I yell fisting my hands ready for a fight. A tall shirtless man steps out wearing cargo shorts, with strawberry blonde hair and chocolate brown eyes. "Hey Nyla, don't kill me please, I saw you fly out of the packhouse looking upset, and got worried.” "Sorry Rider, I just have a lot going on and needed some space to think." I sit back down by the water as he walks over and sits next to me. "What happened?" I look into the water explaining everything that happened. "Now he is pissed at me over everything, you should have seen his face when he caught me walking in from the balcony after getting back from work. He looked so disappointed and angry I thought his head was going to explode." Rider pulls me into his side hugging me tight rubbing my shoulder. "I don't know how to explain any of this to him, I should have just told Luke when daddy hired him." I look up at him as he rubs my back trying to comfort me, I look at his other hand on my thigh playing with the rim of my shorts slowly sliding his fingers under the fabric. "Rider this isn't going to help, I think I should go back." I stand up and step away getting ready to fly back, he grips my hips catching me midair, and pulls me back to his chest looking into my eyes. "I miss you Nyla, please don't go back to him, stay with me, sweetheart." Luke's pov "This is unbelievable!" I yell kicking my suitcase into the wall and then looking back out the window. I can't believe she lied to me for four years, she is just so aggravating. I wonder what else she is lying about. I grab her purse and pull out her phone to look through it but stop seeing the lock screen is a picture of us by the lake her sister took the day we went fishing. "Now I feel guilty, I can't invade her privacy like that." I set her phone back down on the table and pace the room nervously waiting for her to come back. I pace by the window waiting for her. It's been over an hour, where is she? I look at the clock reading midnight then head down to the kitchen for a drink, I run my hand through my hair as I sit at the bar with a beer. Maybe I should apologize, maybe get her flowers. I tap the counter with my fingers thinking as two guards walk into the kitchen. "Hey, you’re that guy with Nyla, aren't you?" I nod as they sit down with a couple of beers. "We saw her fly off; she looked really upset dude" I drop my head to the counter resting on the cool surface. "So, I'm guessing everyone here knows here knows her, help me out here." They look at each other and then back at me. "I'm Chase and this is Mike she used to train with us when her dad would send her here." I slump my shoulders. "I really know nothing about her, huh?" They start filling me in on her past with the pack as we all relax with our beers. "She is a super chill person I'm guessing she freaked out when you bombarded her with all your questions." I lean on the backrest of the barstool running my hand through my hair, feeling like an ass. "I'm going to buy her something shiny and some flowers and tell her I'm sorry, it wasn't fair of me to snap at her like that." Nyla's pov I drop my head and step back from him. "I still love you Nyla, please don't go back to him, stay with me, I hated that you left and haven't heard from you in years." He reaches for me trying to pull me back to him but I grab his wrists and spin on my heal throwing him into the lake, water flying through the air as he crashes into the water. "I'm going back to him, Rider so stop it! I never should have stayed here with you for so long, or even at all I should have just gone back to him the moment you stepped through the trees." He walks out of the water shaking some of the water out of his hair as I back up and take off flying back to the packhouse landing at the front door, Rider runs up behind me panting, soaking wet as I push through the door into the mudroom. "Nyla come on, I'm sorry." I roll my eyes shaking with rage as he tries to catch up with me, I run into the kitchen finding Luke with Mike, and Chase. "Leave me alone Rider. Please just stop. I left you for a reason and I’m not changing my mind!" Luke stands up as I run over to him shaking. "Nyla, why are you going to stay with a guy that doesn't even understand you or your work, I saw you crying before I broke that stick alerting you to my being there?" Rider pushes his wet hair out of his face looking at me with his wolf eyes. "He may be new to it all, but I care about him a lot and I want you to leave me alone. I dumped you years ago because of this crap attitude you have about my choices." Luke looks at me then back at Rider, annoyed as Mike and Chase stand up. "Luke I'm sorry I ran off." He hugs me tight then glares at Rider. Chase and Mike stalk over to Rider and drag him away as he yells at them to let him go, Luke leans down to kiss me then stops just out of my reach. "You smell like him, baby." He smirks looking into my eyes, I hug him tighter still shaking. "He hugged me but that's all I promise." He holds my hand walking me back to our room. “Baby, relax you don’t need to explain yourself. I understand why you didn’t say anything.” I blush smiling at him as he reassures me. "Wow, you're not as much of a cocky asshole as I thought." He looks at me puzzled as I get up and grab one of his t-shirts from his messy suitcase to get ready for bed. "You thought I was a cocky asshole?" I giggle as I change into his shirt and put my clothes in my bag. He walks up behind me and spins me around to face him. "A little yeah, kind of." I kiss him then flash him a sassy smirk, and climb into bed. "And why did you think that?" I look at him as he strips down to his boxers and lays down next to me. "Well, you make all these stupid jokes, and act like you know everything about everything and how you handled me when you caught me sneaking back in after work, on top of all of that not long after daddy hired you, you grabbed my ass." He lays his head on my lap smiling like an i***t. "You kept ignoring me, so I had to do something to get your attention." I roll my eyes. "You were so cute when you jumped and squeaked at me trying to yell at me about... I couldn't even understand your rambling and stumbling over your words." He reaches up twisting my hair between his fingers laughing "You finally started talking to me, I was able to relax cause I knew I wasn't going to get fired, I knew you went through six other bodyguards before me and I knew the moment I saw you, that I couldn't let you go." I blush covering my face. "I saw you walk in the room after getting back from your trip, glaring at me then go straight into your closet, you were so beautiful, and you looked so annoyed that I was there. I couldn't help but pick on you." I lay back into the fluffy white pillows, and he repositions laying next to me with his chin propped on his hand as I cuddle next to him. "Your still an ass though."
