Chapter 8: In the Dark-1

128 Words

Chapter 8: In the Dark Thanks to the wine, I fall asleep easily in spite of the tension of both the storm and the situation with Lenore. Plus, this bed at Poppi’s is comforting and familiar. He turned the heat back to normal after the change in weather forecast, so all is well. The snow has stopped, although the wind continues to bluster about outside my window. One good thing: I’ve barely thought about missing Emma since we arrived in Flagstaff. I wake up sometime in the night to find that sleet is indeed pelting everything outside. I can hear the noise it makes striking the metal trashcans and the cars. I tell myself that we are all warm and safe inside the house, and then fall back to sleep.
