Chapter 12: Keeping Secrets
Christmas dinner is a joyous affair, with turkey and all the trimmings. Of course, it takes the turkey quite a while once the power comes back on, but we are all adults and can wait for dinner.
I’m so thrilled to have Emma back, I can’t quite focus on anything else. In the back of my mind, I have the nagging thought about the secret most of us are keeping from Poppi. And now, I’m keeping it from Emma, too. Should I tell her? I force myself to make this decision later, after we get home.
Which leads my mind down another trail: where exactly is home? All my belongings are in Tucson at Ashley’s place. But, sitting next to Emma at the table, my heart says home is Phoenix.
Christmas wraps itself up by nightfall, with everyone (including Denny) helping to clean up
