Chapter 13The ceremonial part of the evening concluded, and the proceedings continued like any other regular supper party. The servers brought in the food, and the chatter became more general. However, every so often Daniel glanced down at the band on his finger, and his smile was incandescent. For some unfathomable reason, Percy couldn’t bring himself to look at Nathan.
The candles flickered, bringing out the scent of the fresh blooms and adding to the festive ambience. Not to be outdone, Percy resolved to order fresh flowers for his upcoming birthday celebration. The food was consumed, the Champagne quaffed with more than an ordinary sense of amity, as though Jo and Daniel’s small, discreet ceremony had bonded their circle more securely.
