I could tell that Rae was nervous about being alone with me, but I figured that the more she was around me, the more comfortable she would get so that soon she would not have panic attacks around me. We watched as my beta walked away with his mate in tow. I could see the sadness on Rae's face. I tried not to let her reaction hurt me, but it was hard. I am fighting every instinct I have to claim what is mine! I knew that if I forcefully dragged her away and claimed her before she was ready I would lose her for good, and I couldn't let that happen!
I gently pulled Rae into me for a hug, more for my benefit than hers at the moment. I needed her touch to ground me. She stiffened momentarily, but soon she was melting into my embrace. I felt her wrap her arms around my torso
