Aston's Hotel
Emily sat in front of the dressing table, her lips painted with a sharp red cherry lipstick that made her already plump lips stand out more. She wore a blue dress, adorned with silver embroidery, her eyes glowed with happiness as she stared at herself in the mirror.
"You look so gorgeous ma'am. You will be the talk of the city after today." The make-up artist whispered, placing the finishing touches on Emily's face.
Emily's face glowed with pride at the make-up artist's words.
"Mr. Aston will not be able to take his eyes off your face today." The Hairstylist added, standing behind Emily.
Emily's smile brightened, taking pride in the fact that she was getting engaged to Dante. He is all she had ever dreamt about, all she had ever wanted aside the designer dresses and lipsticks from big brands.
"Thank you. I'll add an extra pay for your work and diligence." Emily remarked.
The make-up artist and hairstylist smiled with pride in their eyes, they have worked with high-end clients since their early 20s. They both knew the way to a clients heart was to butter them up and fill their egos.
Someone like Emily was harder to please but with the right words, they had earned themselves extra money. "Thank you ma'am. We will take our leave now." They both said and left.
Emily continued staring in the mirror with pride on her face even after the make-up artist and hairstylist left. Her dreams was finally coming to pass.
............................
A Lamborghini stopped in front of the hotel were a huge amount of reporters were standing, they clicked the camera's at every person, celebrity and individual that passed trying to get the latest news and also get good pictures for their publications.
Hayley swallowed, as she stared at the sea of reporters standing out there. How long had it been since she came face to face with this amount of reporters?
Two years.
It's been two years since she appeared on the news or even found herself in a crowd. She had avoided crowds and reporters like a plague for the past two years, but here she was once again in front of her fears.
"Ma'am, we are here." The driver said, trying to inform Hayley because she was lost in thoughts but Hayley was lost in her anxiety and fear.
"Ma'am, we are here."
The cars behind them blasted their horns, tired of waiting in line.
"Miss Cole." The driver said, tapping on Hayley to knock her out of her thoughts.
Hayley was knocked out of her thoughts with the driver's touch. "Oh my God, I'm so sorry." She whispered, an embarrassed smile on her face
Her cheeks turned red as she took notice of the cars behind them and the impatient drivers hitting on their car horns. Although her palms had turned sweaty, Hayley nodded at the driver and opened the car door, stepping outside.
Hayley held a purse and a phone in her hand, her long black backless dress reaching to her ankles. She wore a black heel and left her hair to relax at her back.
On her neck laid the 'Forever Gorgeous' necklace that had been released a few days ago from her jewelry brand and on her hands were matching bracelets.
The dress accumulated her figure, pushed out her assets and showed off her beauty. Hayley was named as LA's Biggest Star in her early 20s for a reason and that reason was being shone tonight.
Hayley stepped towards the red carpet, her expression neutral and clear. She kept her shoulders square and her head held high. No one would notice how anxious and nervous she was feeling.
The reporters was surprised to see Hayley, she was glowing and looked impeccably stunning in her dress. The reporters were quick to recover from their shock and began to click pictures of Hayley.
Immediately the reporters recovered Hayley, they began ask questions and find out a few things, digging up Hayley's part and present.
"Miss Hayley, turn for the camera."
"Miss Hayley, please strike a pose."
"Miss Hayley, how long has it been since we saw you?"
"Miss Hayley, your appearance on the red carpet after two years is truly beautiful."
"Miss Hayley, are you here to ruin the engagement or give them your blessings?"
"Miss Hayley, how does it feel to be attending your ex-husband's engagement with his secretary?"
The reporters shot various questions at Hayley but she managed to maintain her indifferent expression, only flashing them a smile before she disappeared into the hall.
Hayley released a breath when she finally made it to the hall. She smiled to herself for a job well done, even if it felt like she would faint from the flashes of light from the reporters cameras.
She had just one job left, to attend the engagement, avoid drama and return back home to her bed and comfort.
Immediately she entered into the hall, nostalgia hit her. This was the exact hall she had done her engagement three years ago. Certain things never grew old.
The hall was filled with notable individuals in the business industry, young ladies from rich families, women and men trying to matchmake their children with other wealthy families and build connections.
Hayley's eyes searched for the gift table. When she found it, she gracefully walked towards it ignoring the eyes on her and placed the red packet she had brought on the table.
Whispers from young ladies filled the hall when they saw Hayley. "Isn't that Dante's ex-wife?" One woman asked.
"Yes, that's her. Hayley Cole." Another answered.
"What is she doing here?" The woman asked again.
"Has she come to ruin the engagement?" She asked her friend.
Hayley frowned from where she stood, hearing the women's conversation. She had the sudden urge to bolt out of there and leave but she controlled herself.
"Miss Long, you seem to like meddling in people's life and worrying about them." A man's voice echoed, making the women keep quiet at once.
"We are sorry, Young Master." The women murmured and ran out of there.
Hayley's lips opened a bit, a tiny smirk forming at the corner of her lips. She turned around and looked at the man who had spoken and stood up for her.
Marcus.
