Susan and Zack left everyone at 6 in the middle of a full night party fest. They had celebrated with beer and chicken wings. Saying their goodbyes, they left to get his car from the student union. Getting comfortable in their seats, Zack promised her a tour of the campus before leaving for their hotel.
Driving through the streets, Susan felt lost in the vastness of the campus. It was like a small town in itself, the buildings were spread across many blocks, with lots of restaurants and bars located mostly on High Street. After an hour of just driving, Zack drove down High street to their hotel, stopping at Holiday Inn. Not one of their small cheap run-down motels, but a full-out high-end hotel, complete with a doorman and carpets.
Susan turned apprehensively towards Zack, “Please, tell me you didn’t book a room here?”
“What if I did” he replied sheepishly.
“Zack, how much did you pay? I can’t let you do that, I will pay for my room?”
“It was nothing, I had some saved up for trips, and I needed this. Even if you had said no to this trip, I would still be spending the same amount. So relax.” He said without looking at her as if he might be hiding something.
“But I am still paying for my room. After all, I own a business and I can afford it.”
“Can we talk about that after, for now, I just want to enjoy our time, Please baby” giving her one of his charming smiles.
“Ok, I will let it go, but only for now,” Susan said before walking out of the car towards the door.
The door was opened by a guy wearing a red suit in his late forties.
“Hello, welcome to Holiday Inn” he greeted them before closing the door behind them. They walked to the front desk asking for keys to their room.
“Hi, can you check for a reservation by the name of Jenson” Susan took a moment to stare at him, Zack Jenson? She felt guilty to be on a trip with a man whose name she didn’t even know. Susan glanced back at the receptionist, a beautiful brunette smiling at Zack.
“Yes, there is a room for your reservation Mr. Jenson. Just sign these papers, and here is your key for room 608. If you need anything, just call the reception and I will be more than happy to assist you.” said the girl, clearly flirting with him but he was busy signing the papers to notice her seductive smile. Susan wanted to lash out at her but she kept herself calm by focusing on the wall.
“I am sure I and my wife will be all ok, thank you for the keys,” Zack said to her while holding on to Susan’s waist. “Oh, Enjoy your stay, sir,” she said with a frown. Susan was startled by his display of possessiveness.
She was happy that he claimed her like this, but she wasn’t his wife, hell she wasn’t even his girlfriend yet. Walking towards the elevator, Susan halted “What did she mean by a room and why do you only have one key?”
“Let’s not do this here, I just claimed you as my wife. Let’s get to the room then we can talk.” Zack explained nervously.
“Ok, I will listen but you better have a damn good explanation”
They got out on the 6th floor, taking a right for their room. Opening the door, Zack stepped back to let her go in first. Surprised at the flowers on the bed and a bottle of champagne on the table, Susan turned to him, “What’s all this?”
“I wanted to celebrate our trip, the game, and you giving me a chance. That’s why I booked only one room. But, if you don’t like it, I can book another.”
Susan thought back to their meeting, her anger, his efforts to say sorry and them being together these past few days. It all added up to her being happy. She was happy to be with Zack.
“Susan, will you be my girlfriend?” Zack got down one knee to open a box with a simple silver necklace.
“I hope that didn’t cost much. I would hate it if you went bankrupt before we are even celebrating our second anniversary” she said before launching herself at him, kissing him on the lips.
“I will take that as a yes,” he said before turning her to clasp the necklace around her neck.
“It’s not just a yes, it's a hell yes, I would love to be your girlfriend.”
They celebrated their relationship by drinking champagne, straight from the bottle, sitting on the small couch in the room.
“Little presumptuous of you to have the bed decorated. Did you think you would be getting lucky tonight?” she said while taking a sip from the bottle.
“I asked for a bouquet and they thought we must be celebrating our honeymoon,” he explained rubbing his neck sheepishly, waving his hands over the petal-strewn bed.
“How about we make use of their mistake?” she said, winking at him.
“Are you serious?”
“No, but that doesn’t mean we can’t fool around a bit” making her laugh at his surprised and eager expression. He must be hoping to sleep with her. Feeling sorry she decided to make it up to him when she starts to trust him. Giving her body to someone is not a joke for her, she needs to completely trust the guy.
She hadn’t had any serious relationship because all the guys she had made the mistake of going out with, jumped at the chance to sleep with her as if she was only there to pleasure their bodies. She wanted a man who knew what it means to trust someone, who knows the value of trust a girl places on him to not break her heart.
“No, it’s ok. I will be fine. I am ok with whatever you decide. I was just surprised that you would be ok sleeping with me, didn’t think you would be suggesting something like this, that’s all. If you wanna wait, I am ok with that. You set the pace and I will ride along” Zack said staring into her eyes, speaking his mind with no hesitation.
