Chapter 19 Favour picked up her phone and dialed a number. The call was answered on the third ring. “Manager Amber, help me check if anyone named Bella Fairchild is signed under our agency,” Favour said as she took a slow sip of her red wine. “Okay… give me a moment.” Manager Amber immediately picked up the office phone and called her assistant. “Check the records and see if we have anyone named Bella Fairchild signed under the agency.” “Yes, ma’am.” A few minutes passed before the assistant returned with an answer. “Yes, ma’am. She was signed when she was sixteen. Is there any problem?” “Not yet. I’ll get back to you.” Favour ended the call and immediately dialed Anna’s number. The call connected almost instantly. “Auntie Favour, do you know her?” “Yes, I do. But what do you have to do with her?” “She’s my friend. She helped me with something, and I just found out that she’s in the entertainment industry. I want to repay her.” “Oh…” Favour chuckled. “Little Anna, you know I don’t pull strings to help people.” “Auntie, you should know Little Anna hates people who do that.” “Then what exactly do you need me to do?” Favour paused. “Wait… Fairchild? I’ve heard that name before.” Her voice suddenly changed. “Isn’t that Clara’s last name?” Anna went silent for a second. “Okay, you caught on,” she finally admitted. “She’s Sis Clara’s younger sister, and she—” “You want to help her because she’s Clara’s sister?” Favour interrupted. “Did Clara ask you to do this?” “No, no!” Anna quickly denied. “You know Sis Clara would never ask for something like that. I was the one who volunteered.” “Okay. Then what happened?” Anna took a deep breath. “Sis Clara came to pick me up from school today, but she looked really sad. So I asked her what was wrong. At first, she didn’t want to tell me…” She paused. “But Auntie Favour, you know the kind of person I am. Eventually, she told me everything without expecting anything from me.” “Told you what?” “That her sister, who has been signed with the agency for three or four years, has been blocked by some evil aunty. Because of that, she hasn’t been getting any real deals. She’s only been getting stunt-double jobs all this time.” Anna’s voice became more serious. “And today, that evil aunty threatened her again. She said she would make sure her sister suffered in the industry.” “Maybe she isn’t good at acting,” Favour pointed out. “That’s for you to find out,” Anna replied confidently. “But what if that isn’t the reason?” She continued before Favour could respond. “So, like I was saying, the evil aunty threatened her again today and told her she would make sure her sister never got anywhere in the industry.” “How do you know she’s evil?” Favour asked, amused. “I saw the way she behaved at Great-Grandma’s birthday party. And because of her, Sis Clara wasn’t even around during breakfast this morning.” Favour laughed softly. “Okay, okay. I’ve heard you. So, what exactly do you want me to do? But remember, I won’t pull any strings for her.” “Nothing much. Just give her opportunities and see if she’s actually good. If she is, then isn’t that good for you too?” Anna giggled. “You’ll make more money if she becomes successful.” Favour smiled. “You really know how to convince people, don’t you?” “So… will you do it?” “Okay. I’ll see what I can do.” “Thank you so much, Auntie Favour! I love you so much!” “I love you too, Little Anna.” “Wait!” “What?” “Don’t let anyone know you did it. Especially Sis Clara.” “Why?” “Nothing. I just don’t want her to know.” Favour sighed. “Okay, Little Anna. Bye.” “Bye, Auntie Favour.” Back to the present A knock on the door pulled Clara back to reality. “Come in,” she said. The door opened, and Anna walked into the room. “Are you okay, Sis Clara?” she asked, staring at her worriedly. “Come here.” Clara reached out and pulled the little girl into her arms before carrying her onto the bed. Anna smiled. “How did you do it?” Clara narrowed her eyes. “Do what?” “It has already been settled?” Anna froze. “Oh…” Clara stared at her suspiciously. Anna immediately avoided her gaze. “Sis Clara… my dad called the house number. He said your line wasn’t going through. He asked what happened and told me to tell you to make dinner for him because he would be coming home early.” “Okay,” Clara replied. She stood up from the bed. “I’ll go take my bath and come out for dinner.” Clara didn’t press Anna any further. The little girl clearly didn’t want to tell her what she had done, but somehow, Clara had a feeling she already knew. Anna was behind this. “Okay. I’m going to watch cartoons,” Anna announced as she climbed down from the bed. She hurried out of Clara’s room. The moment the door closed, Clara’s phone began to ring. She glanced at the screen. Bella. Clara immediately answered. “Hello?” “Sis! Guess what?!” Bella’s excited voice came from the other end. Clara smiled. She already knew what the news was about. But she wanted Bella to have the joy of telling her herself. “What is it?” Clara pretended to sound surprised. “You know I’m terrible at guessing.” “You know Director Seo, right?” “Yes, I do.” “Good…” Bella paused dramatically. “I got signed by him!” Clara’s eyes widened. “What?! Really?! How?!”
