" Fwoom." I hear something metal buzz past me, traveling so fast it sounds like it will explode midair. "Fwish." The next one speeds past. They move so quickly I can't see them, whatever they are. Another one whizzes by and pins my sleeve to the tree I am trying to hide behind—great a Goddess and throwing knives just what we need. I take a deep breath, holding it, counting the seconds, and waiting for one to hit me this time. I want to move, but my crippling fear leaves me frozen in place like a sitting duck. I hear more coming toward where Kate and I are standing.
