Episode:4 The Man Who Erased Himself

1125 Words
Eun-bi stood among the elite— Yet she felt completely out of place. The laughter around her sounded distant, like echoes from another world. Soft. Polished. Artificial. Every smile she saw felt practiced. Every conversation—calculated. The elegance of the room, the shining lights, the expensive perfumes lingering in the air— It should have been beautiful. Instead— It felt suffocating. Like she didn’t belong there. Like the air itself rejected her presence. Her fingers tightened slightly at her side. Her heartbeat felt uneven. Restless. Unsettled. But then— Her eyes found him. That man. And strangely— Everything inside her… calmed. As if her restless heart had finally found something familiar— Even if it made no sense. Kang Leon. He stood at the center of it all— Composed. Untouchable. Every gaze in the room gravitated toward him. People approached him one by one— Powerful men. Influential figures. Each one speaking with careful words, measured tones. Trying to gain his attention. His favor. His recognition. But Kang Leon— Remained indifferent. His expression barely changed. His voice calm. Controlled. Unreachable. And yet— Even he— Felt it. The weight of the room. The suffocating pressure hidden behind polished smiles. The expectations. The hidden agendas. The silent wars being fought behind formal greetings. Without a word— He stepped away. No announcement. No hesitation. Just a quiet exit. Outside— Darkness embraced the night. The noise faded instantly. And for the first time since entering— There was silence. Real silence. Not filled with whispers. Not masked with laughter. Just— Stillness. Kang Leon loosened his tie slightly, exhaling slowly. "Better…" The word slipped from his lips almost unconsciously. For a brief moment— He allowed himself to exist without control. Without observation. Without expectation. But peace— Never lasted long. From the moment she entered— Eun-bi’s attention had been drawn to him. Unintentionally. Unavoidably. No matter where she stood— Her eyes found him. And now— Finally— She had a chance. Her steps were slow. Careful. But determined. "Excuse me—" Kim Do turned instantly at the sound of her voice. His expression hardened. Sharp. Alert. "Miss. This area is restricted." His tone left no room for argument. But Eun-bi didn’t hesitate. "I need to speak with Mr. Kang." A direct answer. No fear. No backing down. "No." Firm. Immediate. "You should return inside." "Please…" Her voice softened slightly— But her resolve didn’t. "Just a moment. I won’t take long." A brief silence. Tension hung in the air. Then— "Let her pass." Kang Leon’s voice cut through the night. Cold. Absolute. No one questioned him. Kim Do stepped aside immediately. "Understood, sir. Please." He moved away without another word— Leaving them alone. Silence fell between them. Heavy. Unavoidable. Kang Leon turned slowly. His gaze landed on her— Sharp. Piercing. As if stripping away everything unnecessary. Every layer. Every defense. Leaving only truth behind. A silent question lingered in his eyes. Who are you? Eun-bi felt it. That pressure. That weight. Still— She spoke. "I have something to ask you…" Her voice was steady. Even if her heart wasn’t. A beat passed. Then— Kang Leon’s voice came. Low. Distant. "Speak." Her pulse quickened. Her chest tightened. "We’ve met before… haven’t we?" Silence. "That night… near the market." Her eyes searched his face. Looking for something. Recognition. Surprise. Denial. Anything. But— Nothing. Kang Leon simply stared at her. Cold. Unreadable. Untouched. As if her words meant nothing. As if she meant nothing. Then— Without a single word— He turned. And walked away. Just like that. No explanation. No acknowledgment. No closure. Eun-bi’s breath trembled. Her heart began to race uncontrollably. "W—what was that…" She lifted both hands, covering her face. Her cheeks burned. Her thoughts spiraled. Because even after he left— It still felt like he was there. Like his gaze hadn’t disappeared. Like it was still on her— Watching. Unseen. That night— The party ended. But something else— Had just begun. Kang Leon returned home. The silence of his space welcomed him. Cold. Empty. Controlled. But for the first time— It didn’t feel enough. Exhaustion weighed on him— But not from the event. Not from the people. Not from the performance. It was something else. Something unfamiliar. Standing before the sink— He splashed cold water onto his face. Once. Twice. Again. And again. But it didn’t help. Because no matter what— Her voice remained. Her eyes— Refused to leave his mind. "...What is this?" The question slipped out before he could stop it. For the first time in a long time— He felt something he couldn’t control. Something he didn’t understand. And that— Was dangerous. Morning— Soft sunlight filled the room. Warm. Gentle. Peaceful. Eun-bi woke early. And for once— She smiled. A real smile. Her brother was home. That alone— Was enough. Humming quietly, she moved around the kitchen, preparing breakfast. Carefully. Lovingly. His favorite dishes. "He’ll like this…" Her voice was soft. Hopeful. Footsteps approached. Her brother stopped at the doorway. Watching her. Silently. For a moment— His expression softened. "When did my little sister learn all this?" Eun-bi turned, surprised. "Aka! You’re awake. I made breakfast for you." He smiled faintly. "It looks amazing." They sat together. The table felt warm. Comfortable. Safe. For a brief moment— Peace existed. Real peace. But— It didn’t last. "You’ve gotten bold lately." The stepmother’s voice cut through the air like a blade. Eun-bi froze. Her fingers tightened. "I told you to prepare my dress for today, didn’t I?" Silence filled the room. Tension followed immediately. Then— "Ayr, that’s enough." Her brother’s voice changed. Firm. Sharp. A warning. "Stay out of this!" she snapped. "You’ve spoiled her enough already!" His gaze darkened. Dangerous. "If it was that important—" He stood. "You could’ve asked the staff." A step forward. Controlled. But ready. "She’s my sister." A pause. Heavy. "And no one speaks to her like that." Not even you. The room fell silent. Completely. No one moved. No one spoke. The air itself felt frozen. Then— He turned to Eun-bi. "Get up." She blinked. Confused. "W-what?" "We’re leaving." No hesitation. No doubt. "You're not staying here anymore." Before she could respond— He took her hand. Firm. Protective. And without looking back— They walked out. Leaving everything behind. Some doors close quietly… Others— Slam shut. Marking the beginning— Of something irreversible. He walked away without a word… But that silence— Ruined them both. #DarkRomance #ColdMaleLead #CEO #Revenge #SlowBurn #Billionaire #Mystery #LoveAndHate #PowerGame
