Kai’s POV
The guy was already wheezing, his ribs probably shattered, but I wasn’t done.
“Who sent you?” I growled, crouching beside him. Blood dripped from his mouth, and his swollen eye barely opened as he groaned.
“No… one…” he rasped.
Wrong answer.
I grabbed him by the collar and dragged him up, ignoring the weak punches he threw at me. They barely registered. Pathetic.
"You crossed into Blackfang territory,” I reminded him. “And now you’re lying in a pool of your own blood. So, I’ll ask again. who. Sent. You?”
Nothing. Just more groaning.
I sighed dramatically. “Fine. We’ll do it the hard way.”
With one swift move, I lifted him by the throat, letting his feet dangle. He gagged, clutching at my wrist, kicking uselessly.
Lucan’s voice cut off my next speech.
“Kai. Put him down.”
I turned my head slightly, giving my Beta a lazy smirk. “I will. Just as soon as he tells me why he thought sneaking into my territory was a good idea.”
Yeah, Lucan is the beta that was assigned to me, but we are buddies too.
Lucan pinched the bridge of his nose. “You mean your father’s territory?”
I shrugged. “Same thing.”
Lucan muttered something under his breath about ‘impatient brats’ before stepping forward. “Just knock him out. We need him alive, because he's with those two over there and more over we don't need him for questioning either.”
The intruder gave a weak nod, probably agreeing with Lucan.
I smiled.
Then I snapped his neck.
Lucan stared at me. The warriors behind him shifted uncomfortably.
“Oops,” I said, letting the body drop to the ground with a dull thud. “Guess I don’t know my own strength.”
Lucan exhaled through his nose. “Kai…”
“Oh, come on,” I cut in. “You saw him. He wasn’t gonna last the night anyway.” I nudged the corpse with my boot. “And he definitely wasn’t talking.”
I tilted my head, flexing my fingers. “He’s still alive.”
Lucan, just sighed. “That’s usually a good thing, Kai.”
I rolled my eyes. “Depends on who you ask.”
Lucan crouched, checking the man’s pulse. “You broke his ribs.”
I shrugged. “Should’ve been faster.”
Lucan gave me a look. One I was familiar with. The one that silently screamed Stop being reckless, Kai.
I wasn’t reckless. I was efficient.
I glanced at the other warriors standing nearby, their gazes cautious. They had seen me fight before. They knew what I was capable of.
They knew I was stronger than most.
And they didn’t know what to do with that.
Lucan stood, rubbing a hand down his face. “Your father won’t be pleased.”
“My father is never pleased.”
He exhaled sharply but didn’t argue. Instead, he motioned for two warriors to take the man away.
But they were so scared to come close, I turned my gaze toward the horizon.
Few wolves was watching me. They always watched me.
Because I wasn’t just the Alpha’s son.
I was the storm that had been promised.
So they have to feared me because if they don't then they have no idea what I will do with her or she.
Maybe I should just kill him, I said almost raising my sword.
Lucan stared at me for a long moment, probably debating whether it was worth arguing. In the end, he just muttered, “Your father’s going to have my head.”
I grinned. “Relax. I’ll take the blame.”
Lucan snorted. “Oh, you always do.”
Hey, you foolish warrior, come carry this thing out of my territory before I slay him and feed his head to you.
They quickly rush towards me. As they carried him off.
I dusted off my hands, turning back toward the packhouse. “Well, that was fun. I’m starving.”
Lucan rubbed his temples. “How are you always hungry?”
“Beating people up works up an appetite.”
“Most people don’t kill before breakfast.”
I threw an arm around his shoulder. “Then most people are missing out.”
He shoved me off with a glare. “Just get back before your father finds out.”
I stretched, feeling the satisfying pop of my joints. “If he asks, tell him I was meditating.”
Lucan just sighed.
INTRODUCTION TO ME
Now, before you start judging me, yes, I almost killed a man. Yes, I probably should’ve listened to Lucan. And yes, I might have a slight problem with authority.
But in my defense, I was raised to be a warrior. And warriors don’t take chances.
My name is Kai. Firstborn son of Alpha Rhordan. Heir to the Blackfang Pack. Future ruler of these lands.
Also, certified menace to Lucan’s blood pressure.
I’m not your typical Alpha heir. I don’t do the whole ‘calm and collected’ thing like my father. I don’t sit through boring meetings or play politics. I fight. I lead. And if necessary, I kill.
Some call me reckless. Others call me ruthless.
I like to think I’m a bit of both.
Growing up, the pack treated me like a king. I was the chosen one, the storm-born, the ‘child of prophecy.’ Whatever that meant. But let me tell you a secret, being the chosen one is boring.
Everyone expects you to be perfect.
But perfection is exhausting.
So, instead of pretending to be something I’m not, I do what I do best.. break bones, break rules, and make my father’s life a living nightmare.
And I do it all with a smile and satisfaction.
Well I am not planning to kill him before his old age. No. Not at all, I am just being me. KAI.
And my mother, yeah she's the kindest and sweetest, she's the only person I listen to when things get real tough.
But sometimes I do listen to Lucan, that guy is somehow too boring for my liking, so I just manage him when I am out of options.
And those my silly brothers and my elder sisters, they are my biggest rivals here. Let's not forget my mom's competitors, those tro are still on her neck but being the smart mistress, she always figures her way out.
So now grap your pop corn because the story is about to get Juicy.
