His weak wolf

1008 Words
Amelia's POV “Why is that? Aren’t you satisfied with the position I’ve already given to you?” Johnson asked the second he heard what I had said, disengaging himself from Jennifer. I should have done this a long time ago, I thought. When he always took the credit for whatever I did simply because he didn’t want to feel emasculated by me. When he dismissed my efforts like they meant nothing, like I was nothing. When he never appreciated any of the problems I solved for his pack. When he never seemed to accept me no matter what I did. He always had an excuse, always a reason to delay my coronation as his Luna. And now he had marked Jennifer after telling me that he would mark me when I became pregnant with his heirs? A tear fell down my cheek as I thought about the cruel joke fate had played on me. “Sabotaging me so I do not get pregnant and then promising to make me Luna when I become pregnant sure is the way to go, Johnson,” I said as I looked at him, my voice steady but laced with quiet pain. He turned his gaze backward at Jennifer, as if he already knew that she was the one who had told me. “I can still do something more for you. How about the biker team? You’ve always wanted to join the team… I’ll let you join either as the team leader or a biker, whichever you want. How does that sound?” he asked as he turned back toward me, his tone suddenly softer—almost bargaining. I scoffed as I thought about it. For years, I had always begged for this chance but he had always refused. I didn’t know whether he was scared that I would outshine him and prove to be more talented than he already was on the tracks. Or whether he had just refused because I was an omega, which had always been the excuse he gave me back then. I didn’t respond, and my silence seemed to get him angry. I knew all too well why he was even being this way. It wasn’t because he cared. It was never because he cared. It was because he had a weak wolf. For so long, his alpha wolf had always been weak and he had always needed extractions of my blood to keep himself balanced as his fated mate. If I were to leave, his wolf could recede or worse, go feral. “How dare you keep silent when I’m talking to you, Amelia? I took you in when you had nothing! How dare you say you will reject me when I have not given you that permission to?” he snapped, his voice rising as his temper flared. His eyes blazed red, as if he was ready to attack me at any moment or have me dragged out and beaten just to remind me of my place. “ You have no wolf or family, do you really think you’d be able to survive it if I accept your rejection and have you banished from my pack?” he continued, his words laced with threat, with everything he had always used to keep me bound to him. “Isn’t this what we’ve always wanted for the past three years, Johnson?! She finally wants to leave of her own accord, shouldn’t you reject her and send her away then??” Jennifer asked. I hadn’t been able to respond when Johnson did, pushing her away from his side with a force that made her stumble. “Stay away from this, Jennifer. You’re just my Luna, not my fated mate!” he snapped. The irony of it all made something bitter rise in my chest. I scoffed again. The audacity of him to think that he would be able to keep the two of us tied to him like possessions. One for status and the other for survival. “I, Amelia, reject you, Johnson White, as my fated mate and Alpha. From this day forward, I sever the bond that binds us together!” I said finally. A breath I hadn’t realized I had been holding escaped me in a shaky sigh. I should have said this a long time ago. Should have done this long before now, instead of clinging to the illusion that one day, I would belong in Johnson’s world. Johnson staggered, losing his balance as if the ground beneath him had given way. He almost fell, coughing up blood, the sound harsh and violent in the quiet that followed. For a moment, I felt the sharp pang of the bond snapping, the ache of something once sacred being torn apart. He, on the other hand looked like his very life source had been ripped out of him. “How dare you?” he snapped, his voice breaking with both rage and disbelief, repelled by the fact that an omega like me had been the one to reject him first. “After everything I’ve done for you! You ungrateful mutt!” he added, his words dripping with venom, as if the bare minimum he had given me was something I should have worshipped him for. “Don’t let her leave this pack! Have her imprisoned! Since she didn’t want the easy life I offered her, I’ll make sure you regret knowing me the remaining days you live! I’ll make you die a slow and painful death!” he roared, his voice echoing with authority as he called on his guards to hold me down. “I accept your rejection, Amelia!” he spat, his pride refusing to let him be the one abandoned. “Let’s see how you’re going to live with my rejection, knowing that you’re just an omega! You’ll die from the pain of it!” he added. As his men reached out to take me away, the weight of everything settled around me. But for the first time, I didn’t feel trapped.
