Davis was ready long before the scheduled time. Anxiety churned in his stomach, making him restless. Returning the documents to her office would have been much easier, but she had insisted he bring them to her house. The thought made him uncomfortable.
At exactly 7:00 PM, he heard a car horn outside. Stepping out, he was met with the sight of a flashy red Lamborghini parked at the curb. He assumed this was the ride she had sent for him. Without hesitation, he walked over and got in.
Once seated, he turned to the chauffeur. “Hello,” he greeted.
The man, whom he assumed was Zero, responded with a simple nod before driving off.
As they sped down the road, Davis struggled to suppress his nerves. His palms felt clammy, and his heart pounded faster than usual. He needed to remain composed.
When they arrived, his breath caught in his throat.
The building before him was magnificent—a mansion, though to Davis, it looked more like a golden castle because of its radiant exterior. The grand iron gate swung open automatically after scanning Zero’s identity. Without missing a beat, the chauffeur returned to the car and drove inside.
Davis couldn’t stop himself from staring in awe. The sheer luxury was overwhelming. He had only seen places like this in movies.
Inside the Mansion
Meanwhile, Crystal had just stepped out of the shower. As she reached for her robe, the sound of a car horn echoed outside.
“He’s here already?” she muttered, surprised by how quickly he had arrived.
Hurrying, she slipped into a red satin nightgown, layering it with a silky robe which she tied securely in the front. Sliding into her flip-flops, she reached for her perfume, spritzing just enough to ensure she smelled fresh and heavenly.
Downstairs, Zero led Davis into the lavish living room, gesturing for him to take a seat.
“Make yourself comfortable,” Zero said briefly before leaving.
Davis settled into the plush couch, though relaxation was the last thing on his mind. His eyes roamed the massive room, absorbing every intricate detail—the high ceilings, the exquisite chandeliers, the perfectly polished floors. Everything screamed wealth and elegance.
Then, the sound of footsteps descending the stairs drew his attention.
Turning his head, his gaze landed on her.
His breath hitched.
Quickly, he tore his eyes away before she could catch him staring. The last thing he wanted was for her to think of him as a pervert.
The Conversation
Crystal walked gracefully toward him and took a seat beside him. Instinctively, Davis shifted slightly, creating space between them.
He wasn’t comfortable with close proximity, especially when her intoxicating scent was making it difficult to think straight.
“Good evening, Mr. Davis. You actually arrived on time,” Crystal said, stealing quick glances at him.
Davis gave a small nod but remained silent, avoiding eye contact.
“Can I have the documents?” she asked.
Without a word, he handed them over, making sure not to look at her. Everything about her—her face, her presence—was too alluring for his liking.
As she flipped through the pages, she nodded in approval. Everything was in order, and he had signed where required.
“Do you have a job?” she asked suddenly, turning to face him.
Davis, still avoiding her gaze, replied calmly, “Yes, I currently work as a cleaner at Crystal Group of Companies. Though, I took a few days off to care for my mother.”
Crystal frowned slightly. “Do you have any job qualifications?”
He hesitated. The sudden line of questioning was unexpected, but he had no choice but to answer.
“Yes, I’m a graduate. I studi—”
Before he could finish, she cut him off.
“Come to my office tomorrow. We have a befitting job for you.”
Davis’s head snapped up, his eyes briefly meeting hers.
“Really?” he asked, surprised.
She nodded with a small smile, feeling oddly satisfied that she had caught his gaze—even if only for a moment.
“Thank you,” he said sincerely.
She hummed in acknowledgment.
“Would you like some juice or anything else?” she offered.
“No, thank you,” he replied politely.
Crystal nodded before leaning back slightly. “Alright. Come to my office tomorrow, and we’ll finalize the remaining part of the deal. There are rules and regulations you’ll need to follow.” She paused, then added, “By the way, they’ve already started your mother’s treatment.”
Davis froze.
His breath caught, his mind struggling to process what he had just heard. He turned to look at her, his eyes filled with an emotion she couldn’t quite decipher.
“You mean… they’ve already started?” he asked again, needing confirmation.
Crystal nodded.
His heart swelled with relief, overwhelmed with emotion.
“Oh my God!” he exclaimed, his previous nervousness vanishing in an instant. The news warmed his heart, filling him with a sense of gratitude he couldn’t put into words.
