“We need to talk.”
“About?” I asked her as I peeled off my jacket and hung it on the back of the door and then waited while Gevona did the same.
“About me...about us.”
“There is no ‘us’,” I remarked back to her, while trying to keep my tone even. Turning away from her at that, I walked out of the little entry hall and headed toward the kitchen. It was late, but our habit had always been to eat something after shift. Lots of things had changed in the last couple of months but that hadn’t.
