Chapter Thirty-One
Trilina couldn’t help but smile at her cousin. They’d been riding together for over a week, and Callista was funny. Now, on day three with the entire party, she, Callista, and Matilda had grown close. Most of their time in the saddle had been a discussion of magic.
At night, by the fire, she’d stayed up late reading from the two books she brought with her. Two days ago, she finally figured out how to fire the wand. It took a higher level of concentration than she imagined. The spells she’d gotten good at, but her mom warned her that to cast with the wand would be more difficult. Each day, since her mother’s books mentioned that she was to practice magic, she had devoted time to meditation. When she quieted her mind, much more was possible.
