Chapter Fifteen
Marl said, “Well, let’s get prepared.”
Everyone got to work. Kal spent some time practicing with Callista’s bow, while Callista made up more torches so that they could light their movements through the cave. Marl, who was still grousing about the whole idea, tore apart a shirt to make some bandanas to cover their faces, and he wrapped his hands before making sure to put on his riding gloves.
When they were ready to go, Callista spread her balm on the few exposed parts of their skin. She’d explained that if anyone got hit with fire silk, the lotion wouldn’t stop the burning, but it would immediately begin countering it and make the sting much less painful.
