Chapter 2 Only one

Natalie from the moment she was born was not revealed by the Fox family. The number of people who knew of her existence, including herself, was counted at the tip of one's fingers.

For more than twenty years, Natalie had been deeply questioning her origin. Moreover, the fact that she was the only daughter in the family was a great mystery. The Fox family had never had any women exist before. However, most of the people who knew the truth in the past died.

The day before, her grandfather suddenly called and asked her to return to America immediately. Natalie heard his urgent tone and her brows furrowed, she constantly comforted her grandfather to prevent his heart disease from recurring.

What happened at home?

She was rarely allowed to return to America by her family, but every time she returned, there was definitely a big problem. She remembered the last time she returned, her brother Mika, was hit and in a coma for almost a week in the hospital. Natalie packed her things while praying that her brother didn't have any problems.

Returning to LA airport, Mika went to the airport to pick her up, making her a lot more secure.

But her mood didn't last long. Her brother suddenly announced, "This time you come here, our grandpa has already chosen a bodyguard for you. You have to obediently stay with him for a while.”

Natalie jumped in the car, and her head hit the ceiling with a loud thud, “Are you kidding me?"

Mika hurriedly rubbed her little sister's forehead and worriedly said, "Do you hurt? Don't ask too much, our grandpa just wants the best for you.."

Natalie didn't give up on her question, "What's wrong with our family? Don't hide from me."

Their car left the airport and stopped at the apartment complex for the police. It could be said that this was the safest complex in Los Angeles. Gathered in this building were all the elite of the police. No thief was stupid enough to come here.

In the hall, a man was waiting for them.

"Hello! I'm Daniel."

"Hello! I'm Natalie."

The facts proved that Natalie's statement was correct. Daniel's apartment was very simple. Apart from the necessary items, there was no decoration. This was not difficult to understand. Daniel was the captain of the criminal investigation team, he was really busy, and he spent most of his time in the police department. A "home" to him was no different from a hotel.

They struggled to drag the luggage to arrange. Natalie saw Daniel take the blanket to the sofa. She immediately wondered, "Why did you bring the blanket on the sofa?"

Daniel rolled his eyes, "Shouldn't we be alone?"

Natalie frowned, "Why?" When she was a child, she and her brother used to sleep together sometimes.

Daniel was silent helplessly. Did the Fox family raise Natalie like this?

Seeing his awkward expression, Natalie thought he didn't like to sleep with her, so she automatically sat down on the sofa.

“This is your house, I will sleep on the sofa.”

After arguing for a while, Daniel finally returned to the bedroom. Natalie was very brave, not inferior to many men. However, as a small girl who had never suffered, Natalie couldn't stand the stiff sofa. Until midnight, she still couldn't sleep.

Daniel was a policeman. He was immediately extremely sensitive to the sounds outside the living room. Suddenly he felt he really wasn't polite, so he stood up and called her in, "Natalie, come in, the bed is still very wide."

Hearing that, Natalie immediately hugged her pillow and climbed into bed. All day sitting on the plane from the UK to the US, she was very tired, and just now, she had to lie on the sofa. The sofa was really stiff, which caused her so much pain.

They were lying side by side on a small bed. At midnight, Daniel felt something heavy on him, so he opened his eyes. It turned out that he was hugged tightly by Natalie. She rested her head on his shoulder, her eyes closed and her small mouth said something. The faint scent of vanilla wafted through the air and lingered around his nose. Daniel exclaimed, in the past, he had always thought that the Fox family was only full of cool and talented men. Didn't he expect them to have such a lovely girl? He suddenly couldn't help turning around, and taking her in his arms.

The next morning, Daniel woke up at exactly 6 AM as usual. The girl beside him was still asleep, her blonde hair gently touching his chest. He had to gently remove Natalie's hand to avoid waking her up.

Daniel went to the gym and bought two breakfasts. He thought for a while, decided to go back to the supermarket, bought some snacks and went home. As soon as he entered the door, he saw Natalie sitting on the bed rubbing her eyes, "Mimi, you're up so early?"

Daniel was taken aback. Who was "Mimi"?

"Ah, I'm going to buy breakfast."

Natalie was now awake, she recognized the strange voice, and immediately remembered her current situation. She was a little embarrassed, "Sorry, I mistook you for my brother."

Daniel nodded slightly. So that's it … ”Mimi” was Mika. Anyway, this cute name didn't suit Mika very well.

After they finished breakfast, Daniel had to take Natalie to the police station. Mika sent her to him 24/24 and he was the captain of the crime investigation team. He couldn't just stay at home as a bodyguard. So the best way was to take her to the police station with him. Natalie also didn't want to be alone at home, so she happily packed and obediently followed him into the car.

Natalie watched Daniel sitting in the Rolls-Royce and waved her hand in disbelief. This car was a limited edition. Its price was not cheap.

She was extremely confused and sat in the next seat. She fastened her seat belt and wondered, "Are you a policeman driving a car with nearly two million dollars?"

As if reading her mind, Daniel happily replied, "Don't overthink, my uncle gave me this car."

Natalie looked disbelieving, "Your uncle?"

Daniel reached out and gently cupped her small head, “Harry Matello, you know? He is my uncle and also my adoptive dad.”

Natalie was suddenly silent. Harry Matello was a famous American real estate mogul. Even her brother had to respect him. She didn't expect him to have such a strong base. Her grandpa was right.

All the way to the police station, they didn't talk and didn't find anything in common to discuss. Suddenly, as if thinking about something, Natalie asked, "If someone asked me what our relationship was, what would I say?"

Daniel wrinkled his forehead. That's right, the fact that he was her bodyguard was a secret that only 6 people knew, including them.

"Say you're my lover."

Natalie continued to tilt her head, "What if they asked how we met?"

Daniel suddenly had a headache. He wasn't good at coming up with a love story like this. He had never had a lover. Finally, he came up with an idea, “You said you were the girl my mom introduced to me. That's okay."

Daniel's mother was the woman that scared all of the police officers. She was the president of the Los Angeles Police Academy. All these police departments were her students. With her backing, no one dared to tease Natalie anymore.

Arriving at the police station, they successfully put on a show that scared the entire crime investigation team. They had the feeling that the enemy's gun pointed at their heads was not as scary as this news.

Matthew rubbed his bald head and tapped his head a few times. Johnny and Bradley trembled and dropped all the important documents in their hands. Patrick slapped him on the cheek. Yesterday, Daniel asked him to erase Natalie's information to hide his little lover.

Emma seemed to be the calmest person. She looked over and then turned to the forensic room. Before closing the door, she also said, “Good skeleton, balanced body. Have you thought about donating your body?”

Natalie turned to look at Daniel in horror, he scratched his head and explained, "She meant you had a great body."

After a morning, the crime investigation team successfully made the entire police department shocked by the news: "Captain Daniel brought his girlfriend to introduce everyone."

In front of the office of the crime investigation team, many people were curious and looked through the thick glass to admire the beauty that made Daniel fall.

They were noisy all night until Emma couldn't take it anymore and took out the surgical knife. The crowd dispersed.
