“You’re pregnant?!” Marcus screamed in shock as Gina nodded. “And you go outside and get this woman pregnant,” she growled. “It’s too late for regrets now. She’s here and there’s nothing we can do about it.” “So what’s the plan? Huh? Marry her and make her a second wife?” “I’m right here you know,” Emma said as Gina scoffed. “Might as well not be,” Gina gave her comeback which had Emma angry. “How about we go about this party first and then we can talk about this in the morning?” Noted Marcus but Gina shrugged. “You can all stay for the party. I’m going to bed.” She turned on her heels and walked to her room to sleep. She couldn’t bear the thought of Marcus cheating on her. Sure they didn’t have the best of relationships but it could always be worked out. But this… this was a new blow even from Marcus. Gina while she laid in bed that night thought about the events that had destroyed her day. Even when she was mad at Marcus she still had hope that he was going to handle this very well and very soon they would be back to their lives. *** Or so she thought, for by morning, she woke up alone in bed to head to the kitchen, only to see Emma and Marcus kissing. “What the heck are you two doing?!” She yelled which had the couple looking at her in shock. “Oh babe good morning,” Marcus smiled. “How was…” “Don’t even act like this is a normal thing. I won’t share you with her. You wanted her to stay here for what reason. Why are you two nuzzling?” “Gina…” “Where did you sleep last night?” Marcus was about to respond when his phone rang. He got up, already dressed up in his office clothes as he grabbed his suitcase and walked out the door, leaving the ladies in the kitchen together. “Oh and if you’re wondering where he was, he was with me through the night.” “I’m sure he didn’t sleep a wink with you by his side,” scoffed Gina. “You’re right. Even I couldn’t sleep. We did it all night long to make sure the baby stays intact.” Gina couldn’t hear anymore from Emma as she walked away in anger. Gina when she reached her door turned back. “This is my house. I’m not going to let some skank come in and destroy it.” She turned on her heels and went back to confront Emma, but as she entered the kitchen, she found water flooding the room. “What in the world…” she gasped as she found Marcus in the kitchen, helping a wet Emma from the floor. “Why would you do this gina?” Marcus asked in rage as he turned to her. “Me? What are you talking about?” “I never thought jealousy was a thing until you decided to be a demon. How could you push a pregnant woman to the floor and pour water on her to humiliate her.” “What?!” Gina screamed, looking at Emma who had a sad look filled with tears. Gina had to admit. Emma was pretty good at acting. “I am disappointed in you.” “I didn’t do anything Marcus. I’m just coming into the kitchen now.” “To finish what you started?!” Emma wailed as Marcus shushed her with a kiss and held her waist as he escorted her to the door, roughly pushing Gina aside. Gina, shocked by this, watched them walk away from her, but she was even more shocked when Emma turned back to give Gina a smug wink. This had Gina furious but she knew if she overreacted she could be scolded for it. She decided to get to her room and rest. While she was in there, Marcus opened the door to let her know his family was in the house. “Great,” she muttered. *** Gina stood at the top of the staircase, her hands trembling slightly as she adjusted the delicate fabric of her dress. The sound of muted voices floated up from the living room below, where Marcus's family had gathered. Taking a deep breath, she descended the stairs, her mind racing with anxiety and determination. Marcus had always told her that his family was difficult, but she hadn't realized the extent until now. As she reached the bottom step, she plastered a polite smile on her face and stepped into the room. "Good morning, everyone," Gina greeted, her voice cheerful despite the storm brewing inside her. Her mother-in-law, Evelyn, glanced up from her place on the couch. Her eyes, cold and assessing, swept over Gina, and a faint sneer curled on her lips. "So, you've finally decided to join us," Evelyn muttered, barely loud enough for Gina to hear. "Late as usual." Gina's heart sank, but she maintained her composure. "I apologize if I kept you waiting," she said respectfully. "I was just finishing up some work." Evelyn snorted, dismissing her words with a wave of her hand. "Work? What kind of work could you possibly have that's more important than my family? It’s not like yours are any better so I won’t expect much from you. But my family… we are billionaires and we expect to be treated like royalty rather than your slaves of a family. Don’t keep us waiting next time or you’ll regret it." Before Gina could respond, her brother-in-law, Thomas, spoke up. "Ungrateful, isn't she?" he said, his voice dripping with disapproval. "We picked you up from the streets when you had nothing. You were just an assistant in a large company, barely scraping by. And now, you have the nerve to stand here and talk down to us?" Gina felt a flush of anger rise in her cheeks. "Thomas, I… I didn't mean any disrespect. I appreciate everything the family has done for me," she tried to explain, her voice wavering slightly. But Thomas was not going to back down. "Appreciate? You don't know the meaning of the word. You think just because you've managed to marry into this family, you're one of us? Think again." Marcus's sister, Olivia, and their father, Richard, joined in the assault, their words cutting deep. "You were never welcome here, Gina," Olivia spat. "And that bastard child you're carrying? It's not welcome either." Evelyn's eyes narrowed, and she stood, her posture rigid with anger. "You will never be part of this family," she hissed. “Never.”
