Athena awoke to the faint rustling sounds echoing around the room. Her eyes snapped open, senses on alert. She tried to get up, but the cold iron shackle on one wrist reminded her of her captivity. She could only sit upright on the bed, the chain clinking lightly with her movement. "You're finally awake," a soft, cheerful voice greeted her. "Your breakfast is ready." Athena turned toward the omega standing beside her bed. The woman smiled kindly at her, which caught Athena off guard. Since when did kindness exist in this place? She narrowed her eyes. "Where's your Alpha?" she asked suspiciously. "He'll come to see you later," the omega replied calmly. "He has a few matters to deal with first. In the meantime, you should eat while you wait." Athena studied the omega's face.
