Past mistakes

As soon as Melissa went past him after referring to him as 'master', Josh realised that getting close to her will not be easy. Actually getting her to forgive him for messing her life up will not be easy at all. He has been regretting his part in breaking up Melissa and his brother's relationship.

Yes! he admits that he never liked this girl but she made his brother Morris happy and 'human'. It is quite impossible to get that guy to laugh but she could and he allowed his dislike and jealousy for her to let himself be manipulated by his mother to actually break them up.

Looking at her back while rushing away from him, he can still remember how she looked when he threw him out of his house four years ago. She looked so lost that day but his vindictiveness was too strong that time.

He knows very well that faking those photographs was not right but he still did it and the results of that misfortune is irreversible.

He can not talk to his brother Morris anymore because of that incident. He has been regretting his part in the break up ever since but can not undo it. This is what he did and has to live with it.

Flash back

He recalls that two weeks after Melissa was thrown out by him, he came home to find his brother Morris looking at the photographs for the first time since that day.

He felt tense when looking at his brother and wished he could just snatch them from him. That day Morris was concentrating a lot on a few pictures. After looking closely he realised that those were the pictures he photo shoped. He tried to distruct him from scrutinizing them but could not.

"Josh you are my brother right?" That is the first question Morris asked him while looking at the pictures. His body got tense because of that question and the cold atmosphere in the room.

"I'm your big brother man, what kind of a question is that?" That's how he responded trying to defuse the atmosphere. "Are you sure?" He asked further looking at him straight in the eyes. Morris was too calm when asking that question and that is when he was the scariest.

Josh gulped the saliver in his mouth when he recalls that Morris gets very explosive when angry. "I asked you a question. Are you sure are my brother? Do brother's do what you did?" Josh's back got drenched at once.

Clenching his teeth he continued. "These photographs have been photo shoped. Why? I know that you disliked Melissa but did you have to break us up?"

"I...I..It was mom who... who sent me" He said that while staring at Morris with big eyes. "Mom told you to do it. Does it mean that if she told you to kill someone you would do it? Man I don't need a brother like you. A brother who breaks up his own brother's family is not worthy to be my brother. Because of this stunt of yours I doubted my wife's innocence. I failed to let her defend herself and also failed to protect her. And thanks to you and mom it will be hard for me to apologise to her and may God help you if she decides not to take me back because I will break all the bones in your body. Mark my word."

The explosion did not come but he spoke so calmly which was more ery and more scary. By the time Morris left the room Josh collapsed on the floor and his back wet. He immediately regretted his part on this mess. His only wish was for Melissa to forgive Morris.

Present

"Josh?...Josh?... Are you Okay?" That brought him back. " Who was that and why did she act like she doesn't know you when you said her name?" That's Linda, Josh's 'girlfriend'.

"My sister in-law" He cuts her. "You have a sister in-law? How come I don't know her?... wait... you have a brother? You mean you are not the only child?" She asked these series of questions while trotting behind Josh as he walks towards his car.

He stops and turns to look and her and she bumps in to him. "Aw! Why did you just stop without warning?" She cried.

He looked at her coldly and asked "What does my family have to do with you?"

"Everything Josh. Don't forget that you and I are a couple, so it has everything to with me." She said looking straight into his eyes. He breathes in deeply and responds clenching his teeth. "You are not my girlfriend we just had an agreement..." "Yes I know we had and agreement thats why I have to know about your family just like you know about mine to make this every convincing."

"What do you mean by that?" He asked puzzled. "Get in the car so we can talk about it." She said that while getting in to his car.

"Okay out with it. What do you mean?" "Look... you know that my parents want me to marry that man for business interest and I use you as a front. They don't fully believe that we are couple. Your parents also forced you to go out on dates remember? So to make our parents get out of our hair, I need to know about you just like you know about me..."

"You know I don't like you right?, and I just agreed to this arrangement to act as a couple with you but we have nothing else." He said in response. "Look Josh you are right, you don't like me and likewise I don't like you but we are partners and partners work together. So right now we need to make this every convincing by knowing everything about each other.
