Chapter 4

Xavier I ran my hands through my already disheveled black hair. I was completely baffled by her emotions. One moment she was in hysterical laughter then it transformed into tears. In most occurrences, women knew who I was and what I was able to give them. No strings attached. Just s*x. But this girl, she was different. My name meant nothing to her. I could tell when, I introduced myself she had no clue that I was the Xavier Stone, CEO of Innovation Technologies. I began walking to do door she just ran out of. She was already halfway down the street, no point in chasing her on foot. She was extremely fast to have made that far in such a short amount of time. I motioned to my driver to start the car, it was already 2:30 and my meeting was scheduled for 3:15. Opening the door, I slid inside as James started the car. Her small backpack lay nestled on the seat. I smirked, she had forgotten it which means she’ll be back for it. I opened the bag, dumping the contents on the seat. Inside was three books, a wallet, a few sets of clothing and a small stuffed bear. I disregarded the other items and picked up what appeared to be a journal. Opening it, I discovered her name was Sarah. A beautiful name, for a beautiful female. I felt entirely soft when in most situations I was revered for my short temper and dominant behavior towards the female’s whom I allow to enjoy my company. Something struck me as different about her. The way she glared at James this morning was quite amusing. James, a capable man trained in combat and she gazed at him like she wanted to step on his foot. I let out a small chuckle. That would certainly make my meeting far more amusing. “Something you find humorous, sir,” James asks. “Nothing of real importance, James. Carry on.” I reply. I had to find this girl again. She was too intriguing to slip through my fingers another time. —————— “Sylvia, please connect me with Mr. Edwards immediately,” I instruct. With a quick nod, she starts to dial. I pick up the phone on my desk. Liam Edwards has been my longtime friend and ally. A sort of confidant. All throughout the financial meeting, my thoughts were distracted by my pretty little flower. He soft brown skin, curly hair, shy personality. A true submissive at heart. When I said I wanted her in the restaurant. I was not lying. In all aspects, she would be mine. I just had to convince her of this. The phone rang once, twice, three, four, five times until I heard the strained hello. Liam was a complete playboy, even more so than myself. No argument that he was successful in his security firm. He often mixed business with pleasure, which left quite a few messes to clean up after the fact. “Liam, It sounds like you are quite busy. Entertaining some female company, I presume.” I tease. “f**k off, you already know the answer to that so why bother asking.” He retorted. “This will only take a few minutes so call off your lady until then,” I say. “Damn it, Xavier, what the hell do you want! He shouts. “Today I met this girl and there was something I don’t know, intriguing about her. She was beautiful, no disputes there. I cannot explain what I am feeling right now. All I know is that I want to make her mine, to protect her, to hold her and to make her feel special.” I faintly could hear the rustle of movement on his end. I opened my mouth to question his actions, but he beat me to it. “I am coming to you right now. You're in your office right? Okay cool! See you there.” He replies hastily. I stared at the already hung up phone. What was his problem? I sat back in my chair, awaiting my boisterous friend to run through my office doors. My thoughts once again drifted to my flower. Her eyes, her deep brown eyes held so much pain in them. Even at a young age, she experienced more than anyone should. I grabbed my phone, calling Sylvia, my personal assistant. “Sylvia, I need you to run a background check on a Sarah Robinson. I want to know everything about her.” I instruct. “Yes sir, Right away” She affirms. As soon as I set the telephone on its receiver. Liam burst into my office, breathing heavily. He must have run when he got off the elevator. Taking a seat, he rushed out: “What do you know about this girl? You’ve been single since I met you and I have never heard you say the words protect or cherish in any sentence. What makes you so sure she is really different? Can you really do this?” I glare at my friend, sometimes he does not know when to control his tongue. I reply, annoyance etched on my facial features. “I know it may seem out of the ordinary, especially when I am used to sleeping with women for a short time and we go our separate ways the day after. But something is telling this the right thing to do. I want to get to know her and ultimately make her mine. So I suggest you hold your tongue, Liam!” I reply. Holding up his hands in surrender, he shakes his head. “Look, man, I did not mean anything by it. If you like this girl enough, then go for it. I just was looking out for you.” I run my hands through my hair, sighing. I could understand him looking out for my best interest. He was my closest friend. I had to ultimately calm down before I spoke a reply to him. “Thank you, Liam, you are a good friend.” I praise. “Anytime man… Anytime.” He replies, smiling. ———————— I had fallen asleep very early last night, thus, allowing me to wake up before the alarm. The sun was peeking through the night sky, signaling that dawn was approaching. Slipping on a grey muscle shirt and a pair of black and white shorts. I exited my bedroom, to find my dog Max already waiting for me. I attached his leash to the collar around his neck. Exiting my condo, I nodded my head to the doorman stationed at the building’s entrance. Max ran beside me as we made our way to the nearby park. It was quite large and could serve as a suitable jogging ground for those wanting to stay in shape. Doing four laps on the outer pavilion, we moved inward. The sound of a woman screaming, halted my advances. I urged Max foreword, to ascertain the whereabouts of the screaming. I stopped short, when I came upon Sarah, trying to fight off a man twice her size but failing. I felt hot rage overcome me as I grabbed her from the disgusting man’s grasp. The stranger looked dirty, bloodshot eyes, and pinpricks on his already exposed arm. No doubt a drug addict. Setting her in the ground, I grabbed the man by the collar, slamming his face into the pavement. I punched repeatedly until his face was unrecognizable and he lay unconscious. I wiped the blood off my hand and into the fabric of my shorts. I motioned for her to stand up, as she started up at me. Her body language radiated terrified. Who wouldn’t be? Her hand came to rest on my chest, in any other circumstance I would rejoice her touching me but this was not one those occasions. She slumped forward, before sinking to the ground. I caught her just before her knees touched the ground. In an instance like this, with her physical and emotional state being injured. Her, collapsing was just a way for her body and mind to cope with the recent events. ——————— As I laid her down on my bed, I slowly took off her shoes, pants, then shirt, leaving her bra and panties still on. Carefully, I slipped on pink silk pajama set, my sister had left here once. I knew that she was beautiful based on her facial appearance. However, nothing compared to how sexy her body looked. If she had been awake, I would have ravished her until she could not walk and her only thoughts were of me. I pushed the thoughts away and proceeded to adjust the shirt to cover her completely. I tucked her in and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. ‘Goodnight my little flower” I whisper, an unfamiliar feeling blooming in my heart as I say those words. A warm feeling.
