Chapter 5: Some alone time

Max immediately walked over and left the guys, I seen them all stop what they were doing to watch where he was going. He walked towards me and I seen his eyes look around when he spotted Danny, he stopped for a moment and gave him a good look up and down. He gave me a dirty look and walked over to the lifeguard tower, I didn’t hear what he said but heard the lady say,

“But Max it’s your day off!”

He whispered something else to her and she shook her head and walked down and headed towards the office. He wasn’t wearing his lifeguard clothes but a white t shirt and black and white shorts. He had on aviation sunglasses and he had a serious look on his face ad he watched Danny with Jeremy and Ali. He didn’t look in my direction at all he kept his eyes on Danny.

I became quite uncomfortable with the situation, why would he care who I was with. I decided I needed to say something cause if not I wouldn’t be able to enjoy my time here.

I grabbed Angel and walked towards the lifeguard tower, the closer I got the more butterflies that went through my stomach. He was so handsome, I could understand why women were throwing themselves at him, his hat was on backwards and he held a confidence in himself which I lacked tremendously.

“Hey, umm I heard today was your day off what are you doing here?”

He didn’t even look towards me,

“Alice wasn’t feeling good, just covering for her, thought you said there was no boyfriend eh Bri?”

Was he jealous? Why was he looking out for me he barely knew me and there were much pretty and more willing women around him all the time. Who would want someone like me, with such a dark past, with 3 kids and no money. I decided to be honest, the truth would definitely get him to back off,

“That’s my brother Danny, the kids uncle, this is the first time we seen each other in almost 10 years we both went to different foster houses.”

I seen him look at him then at me, I guess he noticed the resemblance then. I seen a small smile on his lips. Then his body went from tense to relax. He took off his sunglasses, I could see his blue eyes were surrounded by dark circles, it didn’t look like he slept in days.

“Why would you only come here on my days off? Where you trying to avoid me?”

I didn’t know what to say, “I figured you have enough fans, I would rather be here without people every few feet flashing pictures. I don’t want to be in anyone’s pictures I’m trying to lay low.”

He looked me over and back to the kids, I was trying to scare him off without having to tell him everything, I didn’t want to tell that story. It obviously didn’t work.

“Why are you trying to lay low are you hiding from something? If you really don’t have a boyfriend why don’t you let me take you out away from the flashing pictures.”

He gave me a really seductive smile, my body and my heart where screaming yes but my head was screaming no. I knew I couldn’t get involved with anyone,

“I am a single mother with 3 kids, I don’t have time to date. I have insane anxiety and ptsd from my past which is very dark and complicated. I have nightmares every single night. I am completely broke trying to hide out from my ex boyfriend who is currently in jail for up to 5 years for assaulting me for almost 4 years.”

I knew by the look on his face he had nothing else to say, he seemed to be trying to take it all in. I’ve avoided so badly to say anything but that’s the truth that’s my life. It complicated and if he wanted to be a part of it then he needed to know.

A part of me regretted saying all that, I walked away and remembered Maddy telling me that Max was very popular with the women, he got anyone he wanted and he has taken advantage of it from the sounds of it.

I was probably just another notch on his belt and he was enjoying the game of trying to chase me, I had to keep that in mind.

I saw him watch over us as I could tell he was thinking, every time I looked up his eyes were on me.

I took Angel and went to join Danny and the kids, he looked up towards Max and nodded to me,

“A friend of yours?”

I shook my head,

“Nope he’s no one, don’t worry about it.”

He looked over at Max, “Well if he’s know one why can’t he keep his eyes off of you Bri? That’s not the kids father is it?” he whispered so they wouldn’t hear the last part.

I shook my head,

“No, no I told you where he is. That’s just a guy trying to get another notch on his belt I think.”

I immediately regretting saying anything when Danny without thinking walked over to him, I felt my heart beat faster I tried to call him to come back. I almost forgot Danny was my big brother when I talked to him he felt more like a best friend and I shouldn’t of said that.

I watched Danny climb up and sit beside Max, I seen them chatting for a bit. I felt relief when Danny didn’t immediately hit him, that’s what I was use too with Derrick, he wouldn’t talk he would just react all the time.

I kept the kids busy while Danny was talking to him for what felt like forever but I’m sure it wasn’t very long. I could hear them both laughing at one point which put my mind at ease.

When Danny climbed down and waved over at him, as he walked away he joined us,

“What do you say if uncle Danny takes you guys out for lunch?”

Both Jeremy and Ali jumped up and down and screamed with excitement. I looked over at him, and whispered,

“What happened?”

He shook his head and gave me a big smile,

“Nothing, if he’s just some guy it shouldn’t bother you what was said right.”

I looked over and Max wasn’t looking towards us, he was looking out onto the empty water. Danny was right I should care what was said but I did so much. It was driving me nuts I didn’t know every single detail.

He could tell I was conflicted when he looked me over, “Unless maybe you like this guy?”

I shook my head without even giving it a second thought. He looked at me with those eyes again as he was trying to read my mind.

“Cause I was thinking maybe I can take all 3 kids and we can go grab some take out I can take my time drive a bit and you can stay here by yourself and we can bring you and Max something to eat.”

I looked over at Max again, he still wasn’t looking our way. I couldn’t let him be a part of all this, he deserves so much better then me, I said what I needed to say and I think I should leave it at that. I didn’t want to sleep around and if he wanted more then that would be a mistake on his part. I doubt he was still interested after what I said to him.

I shook my head, this would be my only chance in 4 years to have any time to myself though, I knew Danny wasn’t going to be around much. He was the only person I could trust with my kids, I figured I can lay back and read for a bit. I gave Danny a smile,

“I haven’t had time to myself in about 4 years, I would love to catch up on a few books on my app. Are you sure your ok with it Danny?”

He smile and nodded,

“Of course Bri, I love being with these kids, we have lots of catching up to do and they all look tired I pretty much guarantee I’ll be driving around for a few hours while they nap then maybe after they eat we can come back and finish our day here.”

I gave him a smile, when I caught him eye Max and he gave him a nod. I looked back up towards Max as he turned he’s head back towards the water. That was suddle but I did not miss it, what where these two planning.

I helped Danny get the kids in the car, I gave each of them a kiss and told them uncle Danny would take them for a ride to get some food if they were tired they could nap. They were all excited to have time alone with their uncle and I could tell Danny was happy about it too.

I headed back towards the beach and noticed that Max was no longer at the tower, I looked around and didn’t see him anywhere. I laid down on my tower looked over at the empty tower once again and opened my phone to read some of my book.

I was reading a very intense s*x scene in my book, when I heard light footsteps beside me, I didn’t want to look up when I heard,

“Her walls stretched to take in his length.” I heard Max chuckle beside me.

He laid next to me as our shoulders touched, his face almost inches from mine, I can feel his breath on my lips. I began to feel in-between my thighs warm up and it wasn’t from the book.

“Can I see that?” he says reaching for me phone, I was in such a daze I didn’t hesitate to pass my phone over.

He continued to read the chapter,

“She moaned out his name as she clenched down on his hard c**k,” hearing that come from his mouth was only doing one thing to me. He was making me picture him on top of me. I could feel myself getting wet with the thought, as I tried to look away from him.

I grabbed my phone from him as he gave me a sexy playful smile,

“I like that book, why do you want me to stop?"

I ignored his questions,

“Why are you here? Didn’t I scare you enough?”

He shook his head,

“Scare? No not at all. If anything you pissed me right off. I can’t imagine what you’ve been through and your kids. Little princess Ali, and Jeremy no wonder he stares at me like he’s going to murder me.” He began to have a small laugh.

“Do you always get this close to women’s kids your trying to get with?” I ask.

He laughs a bit, he shakes his head and brings his face closer to mine.

“Never, I’m not just trying to get with you Bri.”
