If I thought I was speechless before I was so much worse now, my eyes became wide as I was trying to find words. He gave me a playful grin as he walked past me and went up to the tower. I walked back over to where I was sitting.
Maddy eyed me,
“That was so awesome! I am beyond jealous Bri. He’s never even said hi to me! And he called you beautiful, I’ve never heard a compliment ever leave his lips.”
I looked over at him as he was looking out to the lake, he really was way to sexy for his own good. I felt guilty looking at him that way, he was a bit younger and way out of my league. I was boring looking with 3 kids, a psycho ex, broke, while he looked like a God and got treated like one.
I looked around the beach as I noticed several women trying to sneak pictures of him and whispering about him, I felt sort of bad for him. Most people have a stalker and they are terrified and annoyed meanwhile this guy has like 100 of them and they are always here trying to pester him.
As I looked him over, maybe he likes the attention regardless it’s not my business. When Angel fell asleep, I laid her in her little shelter and watched Jeremy and Ali begin to play on their own. I pushed the thought of Max to the back of my mind and I ran towards my babies. I lifted Ali and sat her butt in the water as Jeremy tried to help her by tackling me, I grabbed him and put him over my shoulders as I began to run in the water a bit with him, always eyeing towards Angel sleeping. I had both of them laughing and smiling up at me, this was a perfect idea.
Once I felt tired from carrying them around, I walked them all over to our towels and sat them down for a snack, I pulled out some crackers as they both snuggled into me. I took my phone out and took a picture of them when Ali got up and began to pose for more pictures. She loved having her picture taken while Jeremy dreaded it.
After a few hours at the beach, all the kids were yawning and beginning to feel tired, I finally let myself look up towards the lifeguard tower and Max was gone, there was a young girl there now. His shift must be over, I didn’t even notice him leave, I tried so hard to avoid looking his way I blocked him completely out.
As I began to pack up Maddy said bye to us all and told us she was always here Thursday to Monday the kids got to play while she got to drool. I rolled my eyes as I began to bring the kids and the stuff back, I had all three of them in the wagon with all the stuff.
As I got to the parking lot, I lost a wheel to the wagon. I got all the kids out and told them to sit on the grass and don’t move. I took everything out and flipped the wagon over, I didn’t know what I was really looking at, I eyed the other wheels, ok there’s a thing missing.
“Do you need a hand?”
I heard someone say, I didn’t look back, I was trying to make shift something to hold my wheel on so I could get home.
“I’m not sure, I need something like a elastic or a little piece of wire I think I can make that work to get home.”
I look back and I meet light blue eyes immediately behind me, he was leaning over my back trying to see what I was looking at. Max gave me a smile as he seen how I became uncomfortable by how close he was, he backed off,
“I think I have something in the office, we wouldn’t want princess beautiful here needing to walk herself home.”
He was giving Ali a playful smile, he looked me in the eyes deeply as he moved away and walked down to the office.
“Mommy who is that man?” Jeremy said giving me a funny look.
“He’s just a lifeguard here hunny, hopefully he can help us fix this so we can get home.”
When Max returned he had a little piece of something he immediately clipped it into place, I looked at it and compared it to the other pieces, it was the exact same piece.
“How? Where?” is all I managed to get out.
He shrugged, “Your welcome, uhm what’s your name?”
“I’m Bri, and this is Jeremy, Angel and as you already know this is Ali.”
He smiles to each of us, “Hey everyone I’m Max, and of course I remember princess Ali.”
She gave him a huge smile, I can tell she loved the idea of being a princess, she sure acted like one.
I thanked him and went to leave as he ran towards me,
“I still have an hour until my next shift do you need a hand heading back to your place?”
I shook my head, “I think I’m good thanks Max!”
I can tell he wasn’t expecting my answer, most women were throwing themselves at him they would probably pay good money to have even a second of his time.
“You would be helping me out too Bri, I’m not sure if you noticed but it can get a bit much around here for me. Unless of course your worried your boyfriend might get upset or something I wouldn’t want to make things complicated for you.”
I shook my head, I looked over at Ali who was giving me hopefully eyes, Jeremy is pouting and Angel is laying there studying everything. I immediately get nervous, does he want to come over cause he thinks I’ll do something to thank him, I really don’t know this guy I can’t trust him with my kids, I don’t need to confuse them anymore. I looked at Jeremy harder and he has seen so much, I understand why he’s skeptical about other men around us after everything he’s seen and heard his father do to me. He was only 4 years old and he was ready to be the man of the house.
“Thank you Max, I think I can manage to get myself home. I’m sure if you wanted to get away you can find a solution, take a walk in the bush or something. I need to get my babies home, and not because of a boyfriend.”
I see him nod at me as he looked us all over, he smiled at me, I can tell he’s never heard no from a woman by how he fiddled around in his pockets unsure what to do.
“Bye Jeremy, Angel, Princess Ali and Beautiful Bri” he looked over at Ali as he said it I think he was trying to get her going again, but she didn’t care she was a princess. I began to turn all shades of red again as I didn’t say anything and walked away.
I headed home unloaded and unpacked everything, fed the kids gave them all baths and sent them to bed. They were all exhausted by there outing today. I cleaned everything up and sat down when I remembered the pictures I took on my phone today. I was anxious to see them, it was so bright out I couldn’t see them earlier.
I look through them, they were so cute, lots of smiles and laughs. I look in the background of one of the pictures and I spot Max at the lifeguard tower and he’s eyes are directly on us, I zoom in and I take in all his features, he looks like a God sculpted him out of his best stuff.
I looked through the next few pictures checking the background, when I caught him. I saw Max standing near my wagon.
