As they make their way back to their hotel room, Emma can hardly contain her excitement. She's engaged to the man of her dreams and they're in one of the most romantic cities in the world.
Tom opens the door to their hotel room and they step inside, still wrapped up in each other's arms. But as Emma looks around, she notices something strange.
"Why are there rose petals all over the floor?" she asks, looking up at Tom.
He just grins and leads her further into the room. As they walk, Emma can see that the room has been transformed. There are candles everywhere, and a bottle of champagne on ice.
Tom leads her over to the bed, where he's laid out a picnic of cheese, bread, and fruit.
Emma can hardly believe it. "Tom, did you do all of this?" she asks, tears of happiness in her eyes.
He nods, looking a little shy. "I just wanted to do something special for you, to celebrate our engagement."
Emma throws her arms around him, feeling overwhelmed with love. "Thank you, Tom. This is the most amazing thing anyone has ever done for me."
They sit on the bed, sipping champagne and feeding each other fruit. Emma can't believe how lucky she is to have found someone like Tom.
As the night wears on, they talk and laugh and make love, lost in their own world. Emma feels like nothing else in the world matters except the two of them, together.
Finally, as they lay in bed, Tom turns to her. "Emma, there's something I need to tell you."
Emma looks up at him, feeling a sense of foreboding. "What is it?"
Tom takes a deep breath. "I've been offered a job in New York."
Emma's heart sinks. New York is on the other side of the world from London, and she's just started her own business here.
"What does that mean for us?" she asks, her voice shaking a little.
Tom takes her hand. "I want you to come with me, Emma. I know it's a big ask, but I can't imagine my life without you."
Emma feels torn. She loves Tom more than anything in the world, but she's not sure if she's ready to leave everything behind and start over in a new city.
"I don't know, Tom," she says, feeling a sense of panic rising up inside her. "I've just started my business here. I don't know if I'm ready to leave it all behind."
Tom nods, looking understanding. "I know it's a big decision, Emma. Take all the time you need to think about it. Just know that I love you, and I want to be with you, no matter where we are in the world."
Emma nods, feeling like her world has been turned upside down. She knows that whatever decision she makes, it's going to change everything.
