Chapter 56Dammen came awake at sound of his door com buzzing. Groggy, he forced himself upright to rub the sleep from his eyes as he kicked the blankets away. He stumbled from the bunk where, he noticed, Casina still lay sleeping peacefully. Again, the noise from an insistent caller invaded the quiet of the room. Dammen fumbled his way over to grab his robe and pull it on, covering his nakedness.
"Yes, yes, what is it?" Dammen asked through the closed door, moving a hand to search the wall for the door switch, which lay hidden in the darkness of the room.
