“This is your room. Get some rest, I'll send someone to you when it's dinner” he said with his back turned to me as he walked down the halls. “Thank you so much for letting me stay here” I said politely with a smile. “You're welcome” he smiled back. I turned and entered the luxurious room. It was beautifully decorated with flower patterned walls and a queen size bed in the middle. The room was decorated to an expensive taste. Its intricate designs could attest to that. I took another shower, this time with scented candles and soap. Few minutes later, a maid came to direct me to the dining area where I was served the most fanciest steak I have ever seen. Dennis was a nice guy and I enjoyed his company. I liked how he was able to converse freely. He was too carefree for a prince and very friendly. So that's how I ended up here the next day, on the road to Laker. He insisted that he would drive me and I eventually agreed when he didn't give up. “I'm fine. Just lost in thought” I said as I turned to him. “You would make a good king” I complimented. He grinned and glanced at me, “I know” “Cocky ass” I laughed. “How long is it now for Laker?” “30 to 20 minutes” I was about to reply to him when I smelled them. Vampires. “s**t” I swore. “What is it?” Dennis asked worriedly. “Nothing, just drive faster. Don't stop driving” I said in a firm voice. Prisca was already up and prowling. “Why are vampires following us? I thought the vamps and wolves signed a deal to stay away from each other's paths” I said to Prisca. “Whatever it is, we fight back” She said like an ever ready fighter. My alpha bloodline was ignited with just a thought. I noticed Dennis shiver unconsciously, he was human so the alpha bloodline was enhanced. “What is going on Aril?” Dennis asked anxiously, his eyes glancing at me repeatedly. The sound of nails scraping through the car sides made us wince, then a fleet of shadows flew past us forming 2 guys in front us and in the middle of the road. Dennis pressed hard on the brake and the car skidded to a halt. “What the hell is that?you wanna get yourself killed?” Dennis chided angrily at the men. If only he knew they were the living dead. The guys looked at each other and chuckled. Their skin were extremely pale, in no comparison to mine. Their eyes were pitch black with no visible white in it. They had fangs protruding out of their mouth and very sharp and long nails. They started walking towards us in slow steps. “You thought you could hide from us by changing your scent to a wolf?” The lankier one said in a mocking tune. “Dennis, I want you to stay in the car and don't come out for any reason” I ordered with my gaze not leaving the vamps. I didn't understand what they were saying but I needed to keep Dennis safe. “What?... What do you mean? you aren't going to face those guys are you?” he said gesturing frantically like I was crazy. “Listen to me” I yelled, “Those guys are not normal people, They are evil and won't hesitate to rip you apart... so I just need you to stay in the car and wait for me okay?” I asked. Prisca was growling and coming forward already but I didn't want her out, whoever they were looking for is not me so I want to try talking first. He nodded and bowed his head in defeat. I breathed a sigh of relief and stepped out of the car. “I think you have the wrong person, guys. My name is Aril and I am a wolf” I said as I tried to act as casual as possible. Fur was almost poking out of my skin as Nanisca was a step away from coming out. “Do we look dumb to you? You are not much different from when you escaped Dulor yuuno” The other guy with a slightly muscled build said as he drew closer to me. “Dulor? Is that a place? I've never heard it, I swear you have the wrong girl” I said as I raised my hands. Fear has started taking over my body. “Where is the blood gem?” He seethed as he wrapped one of his hands around my neck and squeezed. My blood was already sizzling hot and Prisca was ready to burn everything to cinders. I still held her back, waiting for the right moment to strike. We needed to strike at the right time and not waste our opportunity. “f*****g fae, tell us where the blood gem is or human boy here crosses to the underworld” The lanky guy said as he walked to us with Dennis in front of him. The Vamp hand was on his shoulder, his long nails digging into his skin. Dennis whined in pain as blood trickled out of his shoulder. I couldn't stop Prisca anymore, she tore out of our human skin wiping the vamp strangling us head clean. His head rolled on the dirt before he could even react. The other vamp had thrown Dennis out of the way and rushed to us without missing a beat. He swiped at our neck and threw a punch at our underbelly, Prisca groaned in pain but didn't back away. She lunged at him and took a bite out of his shoulder, then she dug her claw into his heart and took out his heart. She climbed off him and turned to look for Dennis. Dennis was sprawled on the ground in the pool of his blood, his head bleeding against a small rock. Instantly, I felt pain deep inside of me.
