It's the day, when Amanda's cousins are coming over from the other side of the city and now, Amanda is sitting on her queen-sized bed. She was terrified and all the traumas that she had appeared in her mind again.
The mocks, waves of laughter, and insults are ringing all over her mind. Her anxiety is finally coming again. She didn't like to see or experience what has made her embarrassed or ashamed but today, she has to for the sake of her family.
Out of a sudden, she heard knocks on the door. She began to walk to the door and opened it. She knew that it was her brother.
"Am...". He called as he saw his sister is wet in sweat.
Amanda looked at her brother and she walked to her bed again. Jackson locked the door and turned on the lights since it was too dark in her bedroom.
"I'm sorry for forcing but you know what will they say to mom and dad if you're not coming?". He asked as he held his sister's shoulder.
Amanda nodded and she smiled forcefully. "It's fine". She uttered and Jackson looked at her worriedly.
"You know what? You have to be brave sometimes. You have to show them that you're not like what they think about you. You're beautiful with these brown eyes and hair, your height is just as perfect as a model and your skin is smooth just like a baby's. Don't you think that they're just jealous of you? ". Jackson smiled.
Amanda has never been in love with her beauty. She's never heard any compliments from someone and if there are some, she would take it as a joke.
" You think so? ". She asked and Jackson aggressively nodded.
" They're the same age as you... they must be jealous of you". He said softly and Amanda sighed.
That's her brother. They had a quite far gap in age, that's why Jackson treats her nicely and they barely have fought like others.
"Go change your clothes and wear something beautiful. We have to be at the hotel in 30 minutes". He said as he stood up.
"Yes". Amanda nodded and she sent her brother to the door.
She closed the door and looked at her wardrobe. She's not a person who likes to wear something extravagantly but her cousins are mostly rich and fashionable.
She opened the wardrobe door and she let out a sigh of disappointment. What she saw is just hoodies, sweatshirts, and 2 dresses that she didn't even know when she bought them. She loves wearing something comfy while her cousins are showing off whatever they have.
Suddenly, someone opened her bedroom door and Amanda smiled as she saw her mom was holding a white dress. My lifesaver.
"I bought this the other day...it is simple and elegant, just like how you like". She said and Amanda let out a giggle.
Amanda took the dress and she was observing the strapless. It was too revealing for her but that'll be it, she didn't have any other choices.
Amanda nodded with a smile while looking at her mom.
"Go change. We'll wait downstairs". Her mother said and Amanda nodded her head.

They arrived at the hotel. Everyone is wearing something revealing while Amanda, she's didn't even feel comfortable in her dress.
"Hi... Amanda". Her cousin greeted her sarcastically while looking at her up and down.
"Hey". She greeted back with a soft voice.
"Are you still studying at the same university?". She asked and Amanda nodded her head.
"Oh...my little sister will start studying there in the next month. She went there without any scholarship". She smug.
Amanda smiled and nodded. "that's good".
She chuckled and walked away from Amanda.
Having no scholarship shows that you're stupid.
Amanda thought.
She began to walk to her brother since there was no one who she wanted to be with. Her parents are busy with her dad's siblings too. She's not gonna sit there and be asked about boyfriends.
"Hey". Jackson smiled as soon as he saw his lovely sister.
"Hi". She smiled.
"Are you fine?". He asked and Amanda quickly nodded.
Jackson wrapped his arms around Amanda's shoulder and he sipped the liquor.
"Want some?". He asked and Amanda shook her head.
"I don't drink...you know me". She made a disgusted expression.
"Um... Jack". Amanda called and her brother looked at her.
"Is this hotel has been renovated? It looks more beautiful than before". Amanda said while looking around the ballroom.
Jackson frowned due to the liquor affection and he shook his head. "I heard that it was bought by a certain company... maybe that is why they renovated it". He said and Amanda nodded.
"Enough drinking". Amanda said and Jackson nodded. He's not a heavy drinker anyway.
Jackson put down the glass and they went to sit on the couch. "Have you talk to them?". Jackson asked as he saw their cousins happily dancing and eating their dinner.
"Sabrina came and told me that Olivia will enter the same university as me". She said and Jackson nodded.
"Just that?". He asked.
"Yeah...I don't wanna talk to them". Amanda huffed.
Jackson chuckled and he nodded. "You don't have to worry about it. Mom and dad are happy that we're coming and it's enough". He said and Amanda sighed.
