After what happened, they gave her an entire week off, allowing her to leave and do whatever she wanted in order so that she could cool off and relax. They even provided her an allowance for the whole time she’d be gone.
It seems they had forgotten she had no other place to go, leaving her with no choice but to return to her aunt’s home. She didn’t want to waste her money to stay in some hostel, somewhere.
It would have been all good, if not for that one reminder the head maid told her, which she couldn’t get out of her mind.
‘Don’t come back until we call you.’
These words repeatedly whispered through her thoughts, lingering within the depths of her subconscious, curious and baffled by the reason the woman would say this. But in the end, she did not have the courage to ask.
