ANDREE: It was Saturday. I woke up very late. I jumped out of bed, went to take a bath and then dried up. I went out of the shower and headed back to the room naked like I usually do. I noticed the curtain was dancing with the wind, so I went towards the window just beside my bed to close it. I also noticed something which made me start wondering, "did I fix my bed before taking a bath?" I just found it fixed. There I was. I started my day confused, but I had somewhere else to go, so I left the thought as it is. Matching my straight-cut denim was a brown long-sleeved polo, I began to prepare for a one-hour ride to the party and I thought this outfit would be comfortable enough. I was already getting excited just thinking of that day's activity. After getting ready, I decided to check my emails for a quick peek while waiting for my friends to pick me up, although I doubted if they were really on their way just like they said. Toni just texted me “OTW”. We all knew that most of the time it was a scam, a big lie. As to who are Ricky and Toni? Well, we are not best friends. We have just been friends for a long time since high school, or maybe we are best pals, not knowing it. Oh, wait! Are we? (Chuckles) anyway, labels nowadays are not that important, aren’t they? so long as you support each other, on the second thought, I beg to differ (laughing). So, let's go back to where we left off. Ah! Yes, I was waiting for them because we were invited to a party together. It was going to be a class reunion. After an hour of waiting, those two had not arrived yet. I thought of going to the party alone. Well maybe I could just wait for them a little longer, or else I would just meet them at the party. I was already getting this nostalgic vibe in me at that time. I mean, while waiting for them, I already recalled the days back during our high school days - of the club people of which I was member exclusively called me “En.” That was my pen name as a writer in our school publication. My name is Andree. At present, I am five feet and 7 inches tall, a typical guy who happens to have a tanned skin tone - has those very attractive eyes, and lips that you would beg for a kiss. When I was in high school, one of the subjects that I enjoyed the most, other than the advanced science class and History class, was English class during the junior year. It’s where I can set my imagination free. It helped me join the Drama/Theatre club. Ricky, Toni, and I were most of the time ending up in the same group, whenever we had activities for our English subject. I was always the director and they were my actors or props, depending on their mood if they wanted to cooperate or not. Our batchmates called me “Andree” , but they also know me as "En". They seldom call me that name because I only use it as my pen name. I always use "Andree" in every school activity o competition I join in both inter and intra-school. I loved being the representative for the storytelling competition. Funny thing about me back then was that I was such a lazy head and I didn’t really memorize my piece, to the point that at every rehearsal, my coach would scold me for not memorizing it and I would end up telling them my favorite line - “I’ll cross the bridge when I get there” and assure them that the lines or the entire story was not only in my mind , but in my heart. Guess what? It worked for 3 years (chuckling). It was every year that our school would hold an Intra school competition and anyone who would be participating was excused from quizzes and exams, of course, for certain subjects that were related to cultural, literary arts and things as such. It was during my senior year that I was beaten by a junior. No hurt feelings here, I just realized that it was time to pass on the crown and losing for only a point was not a big deal to me because the opponent is pretty, I mean! she did pretty well. Well.. I was able to accept the defeat without protest because she delivered her piece admirably, it was a healthy competition. She performed at her best so that she was able to make the audience cry. She had an advantage there, I can attest so, I just let it go and I was happy with it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- after how many hours more..... Finally, my friends arrived. I almost leave and go to the party alone. We arrived at the venue on time. I still had time to look around. From the patio just beside the gate, you could already get a glimpse of the beautiful scenery not far from where the party is to be held. It was more like a paradise than a garden for me, with birds chirping, the sound of the man-made falls pleasing to the ears - so relaxing, like a symphony - and the green trees. You can also smell the scent of the flowers blooming. After that quick sight seeing, we proceeded to the venue hall and occupied the table intended for us. I was still able to see from the hall through the window this magnificent view. I can say, I salute the owner or maybe the management of the place, they knew how to make a paradise out of a garden. The party’s main event started at 7:30 pm, by then it was already dark outside. The beautiful scenery was no longer visible from where I was situated because the glass windows were already closed, and it was too bright inside the hall. . Reyah, one of our classmates that was sitting at the same table with us, got my attention and told me that we were expected by another group of friends staying at the hotel. Toni, Ricky, and she, together with some of our batchmates friends went ahead. I just nodded without saying anything, not having any second thought, I replied, "Nice, I think I'll stay for a while here." There were a lot of beautiful ladies at the party, so I enjoying myself. There I was sitting, realizing how they are all grown up and remembering those kids before, my peers, now in front of me as ladies and gentlemen. I was still not into drinking too much of anything with alcohol because of low alcohol tolerance, but I took a glass or two, then after noticing that they were already on the part of the party where they were all enjoying the drinks and talking, I knew I could not allow myself to take in too much alcoholic drinks. I tried to sneak out somewhere where no one was drinking. I decided to go out of the event hall without being noticed.
