I don't like that blonde

KENDALL I couldn't believe Alexander had just walked out of my presence after being bold enough to make the first move. He wanted me just as much, it was surprising and yet satisfying that the feeling was at least mutual. I stood there, my heart heavy with disappointment. The warmth of the evening had turned icy cold, the living room now felt empty and desolate. I stood up and slowly made my way upstairs, my footsteps echoing through the silent house. I couldn't shake the feeling of rejection off. I considered going to Aleksander's room, but a wave of doubt washed over me. Was it worth the risk of further humiliation? I immediately decided against it. Instead, I retreated to my room, closing the door behind me. The room now felt strangely suffocating. I sank onto the bed, the tears falling freely. I thought about Aleksander, his words echoing in her mind. "This was a mistake, YOU were only on the spur of the moment" That f*****g bastard. We were in the spur of the moment! And what the hell was I supposed to do when everything he did kept driving me completely crazy and nuts over him. At that moment, my phone beeped. HEY, MIND PICKING YOUR GODDAMMED CALLS??? It was Cheryl. I hadn't even noticed it. There were 8 missed calls from her. I dropped the phone back on the bed. I wasn't in the mood to engage my best friend in a conversation. She'd definitely know I was not okay. My phone beeped again, I groaned frustratedly and picked it up with the intention of switching it off when I saw Alexander's text pop up on the screen. 8AM TOMORROW, YOU START YOUR JOB, DON'T BE LATE. I scoffed as I shoved the phone away. I woke up to the sound of my phone buzzing. It was a text from Aleksander. The time was 5:25AM, I almost screamed, what the hell! GOOD MORNING, KENDALL. REMEMBER, YOU START YOUR NEW JOB TODAY. BE READY BY 8AM. My heart squeezed inside of me. What was this sudden formality for?. A job as his secretary? I wouldn't have believed it in my wildest dream, but I couldn't deny the thrill of spending more time with him. I quickly got out of bed and headed to the bathroom. A hot shower and a quick makeup routine later, I immediately felt refreshed and ready to face the day. I chose a simple yet elegant outfit: a crisp white blouse paired with a tailored pencil skirt. I slipped on a pair of black heels and tied my hair in a neat bun. As I looked in the mirror, I couldn't believe how professional and stunning I looked. Last week, I went shopping for exquisite office wear. I walked into the living room, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling the air, causing my stomach to softly grumble in excitement. To my surprise, Aleksander was already seated at the breakfast table, a plate of pancakes and a steaming cup of coffee in front of him. "Good morning," he greeted me, his voice deep and firm. I nodded, suddenly feeling a pang of awkwardness. The tension between us was palpable. "I made breakfast," he said, gesturing towards the table. "I thought it would be easier than having to stop over at a breakfast cafe." I thanked him, sitting down across from him. We ate in silence, the only sound heard was the clinking of forks against expensive silver plates. The atmosphere was obviously tense, the unspoken words hanging heavy in the air between us. After breakfast, Aleksander stood up to clear the table. "I'll get this," he said, his voice barely audible. "No, let me help you," I offered, eager to break the silence. As we worked together, I tried to strike up a conversation, but my attempts were met with short, monosyllabic replies. It was clear that Aleksander was trying to draw a line. I knew I had to tread carefully. I didn't want to push him away further. I decided to give him some space and just went with the flow. The drive to Aleksander's company was silent. No one said anything to the other. The tension between us was thick, and I didn't know how to break it. I kept stealing glances at him, his demeanor was totally blank. As we pulled up to the sleek, modern building, I felt a surge of nerves. Firstly, it was because this was my first day at work, and I was already feeling overwhelmed. It wasn't like I've worked as a secretary before. Secondly, because Alexander wasn't talking to me. I was getting furious and angry. As we stepped into the building, a stunning woman approached us. She had long, flowing blonde hair,an enthusiastic smile, and a confident demeanor. I hate to admit it, but damn it! She looked spicy yet elegant. Her smile dropped the moment she brought her gaze to me. "Aleksander," she greeted, her voice sweet but with an underlying edge. "It's good to see you." They shook hands enthusiastically. She turned to me, her gaze assessing. "And you must be Kendall. I'm Ava." I forced a smile, instinctively extending my hand. "Nice to meet you Ava." Her grip was firm, almost too firm. "I've heard a lot about you," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Alexander, I'll see you later." As she walked away, I couldn't shake the feeling that she was sizing me up, analyzing me. And why the hell was she addressing him by his first name? There was every possibility that this woman and him were super close. And what the hell did Alexander tell her about me? I turned to Alexander, but his expression was inscrutable. "Who was that?" I asked, trying to hide how furious I was. "Just a colleague," he replied, his voice flat. I wasn't convinced. There was something more to their relationship, something that he wasn't telling me. Well, he has no reason to tell me right?
