Chapter 14
Trinidad’s POV
I woke up to the sound of bullets flying over my head, I sat up in the bed panting and my heart was beating as though, I had run a marathon or something of the sort.
It was only after a few minutes of heavy breathing that I realized I had being dreaming and that the sounds of the bullets I had been hearing were in my dreams as well.
Looking around the surroundings, I realized I did not recognize anything, I was in a bedroom, a rather elegant bedroom at that, the colors of beige and white were scattered around the furniture and I was lying on the softest bed ever.
I was sure we had not been captured because there was no way I will be kept in such confortable lodgings by the people who were suddenly so hell bent on killing me which was funny because just last week I was one of their best operatives.
I got up from the bed and held my side, it still hurt like a bastard but of course it was something I could endure, I was still blaming myself for getting shot like some rookie but I had been too concerned with keeping Sean safe that I hardly paid attention to myself.
Speaking of Sean, I had to find him, I had no idea where I was and if he had someone gotten caught, a nagging fear suddenly settled deep in my heart, if he had gotten caught, then there was no way he was still alive by now, an urgency to find him suddenly overcame and I rushed to the door completely ignoring the pain in my belly.
Few steps away from the door handle, the door swung open and a woman stood there looking at me with a confused expression on her face, I was sure I had a similar look on my face as well, the woman looked nothing like a criminal, she had brown hair with streaks of grey in it and she was dressed in a simple gown that came down to her knees, she was small in stature and she had a maternal aura surrounding her.
“Who the hell was this woman?” I wondered as I took a few steps back so that I could properly gauge the situation right now.
Suddenly the woman’s face split into a bright smile “Oh dear, you are finally up, I was beginning to worry about you, it’s been two days after all” she said as she stepped into the room, she kept beaming at me.
“I was out for two day?” I asked quickly.
“Of course darling, when Sean brought you here, you had lost a lot of blood and when he kept insisting that you did not need to be taken to the hospital, we had to get the doctor to come over here and get you treated” the woman said with a sympathetic smile on her face.
From what she was saying, Sean had brought me here but where exactly was this again?
“Ummm if you don’t mind me asking Ma’am, who are you and where am I?” I asked the overly nice woman.
“Oh forgive my manners dear, I am Margaret Williams, I am Sean’s mother and you are in my home darling” she said with another dazzling smile on her rather pretty face which suddenly bore a whoe of resemblance to her son.
I was not sure what to say in reply in that because who the hell took an injured assassin to his mother’s house for heaven’s sake.
I was saved from having to reply when Sean himself stepped into the room “You are finally awake, you had me worried there for a second” he said immediately he saw me standing with his mother.
I will never be able to explain the relief that washed over me at the sight of him alive and unhurt, it was completely unnatural for me to be having all these feelings but I seemed to have no idea how to control them.
I kept my eyes trained on him as he approached me, I could see in his eyes that he had been worried about me, he had been really worried about me, no one had ever worried about me before, that thought made me feel something warm deep in my heart.
Soon enough he was standing before me, his eyes drinking in every detail of my face before he raised his hand to gently caress my face and push a lock of hair away from my face, his finger tips against my skin sent tiny sparks along the path his fingers traced.
“I am so glad you are okay” he said, his voice was no more than a whisper but it was loud enough for me to hear and enough to send that warm feeling floating all over my chest once more
I was going to say something, I was not sure what it was that I had wanted to say but the sound a throat being cleared broke whatever trance we had locked ourselves in.
We both turned in the direction of the sound and when I saw his mother looking at us with a smile on her face, I could not help the color that immediately rose to my cheeks, I had never blushed before, I had no memory of ever blushing, but here I was right now, blushing like a tomato.
“Forgive me for saying this but you two look extremely cute right now” Mrs. Margaret William said with a bright smile on her face.
“Oh for heaven’s sake mum, can you give us a little privacy?” Sean said.
Mrs. Margaret Williams gave a bright smile and said “You are right, I should leave you two alone, I hope you can join us for dinner dear” she said turning to me.
Not knowing the best reply to give her, I simply nodded my head and gave her a smile though it was more of a grimace.
She gave another overly bright smile before she left the room.
I walked back to the bed and fell into it “Well that was the most awkward situation I have ever found myself” I said with a groan.
A deep chuckle reverberated from Sean “I am sorry about mum, she tends to be overly dramatic sometimes, most times actually” he said as he came to sit beside me on the bed.
“I figured as much” I said.
He was quiet so I turned my head to look at him and he had this intense stare in his eyes, one that I feared could consume me whole, one that could one day become my doom and the worst and most scary part was that I really did not care.
“You scared me, you had no idea how I felt when they loaded you unconscious into the plane and there was so much blood, I thought you were going to die” he said, his voice was low and deep, enough to send sparks rolling over my skin but also enough to settle his words in my heart and gather up a warm feeling.
“I am okay” I said to him in an attempt to comfort and assure him that I was okay.
He simply nodded his head and then he said “This may sound like a lie or just some ploy I am trying to pull to get you to stay and keep protecting me but I assure you it not”
I had no reply to that so I simply kept my mouth shut and watched him with wide eyes.
“I pretty sure I am half way in love with you or perhaps, I am already am” he said.
There will never be words enough to describe the feeling I felt that day when he said those words looking at me the way he was doing.
My heart was pounding in my chest and I was not sure if it was because of what he had said to me or the fact that it was possible that I harbored feelings similar to his.
