A gentle knock on the door woke me, my body ached from sleeping in the chair, I looked towards the door, hoping it was the doctors and nurses returning with Sab.  Emily stood in the doorway; her eyes filled with compassion.  “Nat, I am sorry I woke you” she whispered to me. “Oh, Emily!” I exclaimed and she rushed over to me hugging me tightly whispering, “I know, I know.” She gently stroked my hair.  “How are you doing Nat?” she asked, it struck me that she did not ask about Sab, but about me. Emily knew, she knew exactly how I felt, she had been through this before, and our friendship was now firmly cemented in our shared experience.
