When they came into the room that afternoon, Martin sat down on the bed and Alice joined him. The place was not to the standard of Alice's room in the mansion but she had to feel comfortable since that was going to be for a short period of time.
Now that they were alone in the room, Alice had to use that opportunity to find out whether what Elizabeth said about him getting those jewelry on credit was because he was hoping to use the money he will acquire from them to pay off. So she asked, "Martin, please I need nothing but the truth. How exactly did you get those jewelry? What did you tell the vendor? And how did you intend to pay?"
Martin was wise enough to know the reason why she was asking those questions and kind of had figured out that she would do so thus he had prepared an answer
