Coming before Megan's room, she knocked a few times with no response coming from inside the room. She knew what the silence meant but that was not what she was after, she was after hearing and speaking with Megan, so no match the silence she did not give up knocking as she said to herself that Megan had to hear her out.
Since the knock was not coming to a cease and person knocking was not going to stop and walk away, Megan who was hearing the knock on the door all these while had to stand from her bed and come to the door.
