Chapter 3: Date night

1056 Words
Marshal stood in front of his closet, surrounded by his friends Malcolm and his younger brothers Owen and Mark. They were all offering their opinions on which outfit would be perfect for his date with Princess. "Dude, wear the blue shirt, it's your color," Malcolm suggested. "No way, the white shirt is classic," Owen chimed in. Mark, the youngest, piped up, "I like the green one! It matches your eyes!" Marshal laughed and shook his head, overwhelmed by their suggestions. "Guys, help me out here. I want to make a good impression." Malcolm held up a sleek black shirt. "Trust me, this is the way to go. You're leaving for India soon, you want to make her remember you." Marshal considered Malcolm's advice and finally settled on a stylish outfit that made him feel confident and handsome. With his friends' help, he was ready to impress Princess on their special date. Their mother walked into the room, a warm smile on her face. "Hey, boys! What are you all up to? And what snacks would you like me to pick up from the supermarket?" The room erupted into a chorus of suggestions, with Marshal, Owen, and Malcolm all calling out their favorite snacks. Marshal's mom laughed and asked. "Malcolm, what do you think? You're practically part of the family, aren't you?" Malcolm grinned, feeling included. "Yeah, I'm good with whatever these guys want, Mrs. M." Just then, 12-year-old Mark's eyes lit up. "Mom, can I come with you to the supermarket? Pleeease?" Their mom smiled and nodded. "Of course, sweetie. Let's go pick out some snacks together." Mark eagerly followed his mom out of the room, excited for the special outing. The remaining boys continued to help Marshal finalize his outfit for his date with Princess. As soon as their mom and Mark left for the supermarket, the room descended into chaos. Owen and Malcolm started a playful wrestling match on the bed, while Marshal tried to intervene, laughing. "Guys, stop! I'm trying to get ready for my date!" The wrestling match spilled over onto the floor, with Owen and Malcolm rolling around, tickling each other and making silly faces. Marshal couldn't help but join in, and soon all three of them were engaged in a hilarious pillow fight. Feathers flew everywhere, and the room was filled with laughter and shouts. Just as they were getting into the swing of things. Owen let out a loud "Whoop!" and leapt onto Marshal's bed, doing a victory dance. The playful chaos continued until they all collapsed in a heap, exhausted and giggling. Marshal grinned, feeling grateful for these lighthearted moments with his friends and brother. The date with Princess was still on his mind, but for now, he was just enjoying the fun. "Hey, man, I'm gonna head out soon," Marshal said, checking his watch. "I don't know how I'm gonna get to the restaurant, though. I don't want to take a taxi." Malcolm, who was lounging on the couch, suddenly sat up. "I've got you covered, bro. You can take my car." Marshal's eyes widened in surprise. "Really? You'd do that for me?" Malcolm nodded. "Yeah, no problem. It's parked right outside. Just be careful with it, okay?" Marshal grinned, feeling relieved and grateful. "Thanks, Malcolm. I owe you one. I'll fill up the gas tank and make sure it's spotless when I return it." Malcolm chuckled. "Don't worry about it, just have a good time with Princess. And don't forget to tell me all about it tomorrow." Marshal laughed and clapped Malcolm on the back. "Will do, thanks again!” Marshal got into Malcolm's silver Honda Civic, which he had nicknamed "Silver Bullet." He drove to Princess's house, feeling confident and excited for their date. As he pulled up to her house, he noticed that Princess was already waiting outside, looking stunning in a red dress. However, as he stepped out of the car, her expression turned stern. "You're driving Malcolm's car?" she asked, her voice tight with annoyance. Marshal was taken aback by her reaction. "Yeah, he lent it to me. Is everything okay?" Princess crossed her arms, her eyes flashing with irritation. "You know I don't like you driving Malcolm's car. It feels like you're trying to show off or something." Marshal felt a knot form in his stomach as he tried to understand her concerns. "I didn't mean to make you feel that way. Malcolm offered, and I didn't see the harm in it." The conversation that followed was tense, with Princess expressing her feelings and Marshal trying to reassure her that he hadn't meant to upset her. As they drove to the restaurant, Princess and Marshal finally settled into a more relaxed conversation. They started talking about the upcoming separation and how they would miss each other. "I'll miss you so much," Princess said, her voice softening. "It's going to be tough being apart for so long." Marshal nodded in agreement. "I know, I'll miss you too. But we'll make it work, right? We can Skype or Facetime each other regularly, and I'll make sure to stay in touch." Princess smiled slightly. "Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. And maybe we can even plan a trip for you to visit me before you leave for India." Marshal's face lit up. "That sounds amazing. Let's make it happen." As they continued driving, they started brainstorming ways to stay connected despite the distance. The conversation flowed more easily now, and they both felt a sense of hope and determination. By the time they arrived at the restaurant, they were both feeling more positive about the challenges ahead. Over a delicious meal of their favorite dishes, Princess and Marshal enjoyed each other's company, laughing and chatting like they used to. The tension from earlier seemed to melt away as they savored the flavors and each other's presence. As they ate, they talked about their favorite memories together, from spontaneous road trips to lazy Sundays spent lounging around. The conversation was easy and natural, and they both felt grateful for this time together. As they finished their meal, Marshal reached across the table and took Princess's hand. "I'm going to miss this," he said, looking into her eyes. "But I'm glad we had tonight." Princess smiled, her eyes shining with affection. "Me too," she whispered.
