“There are romance novels I read and movies I have seen about marrying a multi-billionaire. Maybe it would be the case with you too, my friend.” Julienne said, smiling. Phyliane remarked with a grin, “I bet you have read all the chick lit in the shop. Dream on about marrying a billionaire at first sight. Do you think some billionaire would want to marry me?” Rubbing on the bumped head and sighed. Julienne then asked, “Where’s your husband’s place?” “The Discovery Garden.” “Well, not bad. Easily accessible and not far from our shop. Where does he work? He must have earned a good salary to have his own home. Get your name on the deed if he wants you to share the mortgage. You won’t get anything when you guys get a divorce. Since it’s a prenuptial property.” “You sounded like Samone.” Phyliane answered. The house was paid in full so there’s no mortgage. And besides, I don’t think it would be nice to put my name on the deed when I didn't spend a dime on it.” “Phyliane, it won’t matter if you two get along.” That struck Phyliane. Her brother-in-law bought the house before their marriage and was paying the mortgage, but the renovation was paid with Samone’s money. Still Samone was not named on the deed. Phyliane started worrying about her sister especially his brother in-law is accusing Samone of spending too much. She needs to talk this out with the sister. The two closed the shop at eleven o’clock at night. Since Julinne’s house is nearby, Phyliane told her to get on home. She locked the main door, took out her keys and went home with her e-bike. She made it to her sister’s home in twenty minutes. It was only when she parked her e-bike that she realized that she no longer lives there. Although feeling sad, Phyliane left when she saw that the lights were out. She rode her e-bike and it was midnight when she reached Discovery Gardens. Pushing the door open, darkness welcomed her. Grabbing her pajamas from her suitcase, she took a hot shower and went to sleep. Meanwhile at the Burj Jumeirah Hotel. Calyx walked out of his family-owned hotel. He had just closed a big deal with a major client and arranged for the client to stay in the presidential suite. With his new wife coming into mind, he decided to take a trip home. “Sir, will it be at the Woods Hills or the Barari?” Wood Hills was the Wood’s family home and the Barari was a property belonging to Calyx, his permanent house. “The Discovery Gardens.” He got into his Rolls Royce and instructed, “don’t forget to bring the MPV I bought.” It was a facade to fool his wife. What was his wife’s name again?” “What’s the missus name again?” Calyx could not be bothered to dig out the marriage license. Gran might not have returned to him when he showed it to her. “The Misus is Phyliane Johnson, she’s twenty six.” the bodyguard replied, “... You might want to remember that.” Greg thought that Mr. Calyx had an exceptional memory, but when it came to people who he was not fond of, he jammed them out. Especially with women. “Sure, I got it.” Calyx responded offhandedly. Judging by the tone, the bodyguard knew he would not be bothered to learn about his wife. Refusing to waste more time thinking, Calyx slumped against the seat and closed his eyes. With the luxury cars convoy stopping at the neighbourhood gate, Calyx drove the MPV into the neighbourhood. Although he could not remember his wife’s name, Calyx was not going to forget about the property he bought. It took 10 minutes to reach Discovery Gardens from the Burj Hotels. Soon he arrived at the entrance to his home and took notice of the pair of slippers at the door. They seemed to be his! “Why were they thrown out?” It must be Phyliane! His face frowned thinking of Phyliane throwing his things out from his home. Now, he believed Phyliane was a bad person. Although he gave in to Gran to marry Phyliane, he drew a line there. He kept his identity hidden after marriage to be the judge of Phyliane’s character. If she passed the test, he would keep her as his wife forever. Whipping out his keys, Calyx unlocked the door, but his attempt was futile. She had locked him out from his own house! This was his house. He let her in, and yet she locked her out! With that, he kicked the door. Bang! Calyx was also trying to get Phyliane on the phone. Phyliane was startled and awakened by the kick on the door. Who was pounding the door at this very hour? How was she supposed to get her to sleep? Phyliane is mad who was woken up by the noise. Throwing off the covers, she stormed out in her pajamas. She had no idea that Calyx called. “Who is it?” She opened the door and was stumped the moment she got a look of the person’s face. She glared at Calyx’s face for a while before getting ahold of herself and putting on a smile. She embarrassedly said, “It’s you, Mr. Woods.” Brushing off Phyliane, Calyx walked past her as he entered the house with a sour face. Calyx rage was already in full as Phyliane did not bother to pick up his call. Phyliane sighed and stuck her tongue out behind his back. She popped out her head out the door to look if their neighbours were awakened. Spotting the slippers by the door, Phyliane bent over to put them back inside the house before locking the door. “I thought you wouldn’t be coming back since you weren’t home when I came home at midnight. That’s why I locked the door.” Phyliane explained. I was alone at home so I thought I should put your slippers at the door just to be safe. People will know there’s a man inside the house. They wouldn’t dare try anything if they see a man’s sippers. Calyx stared icily at her with dead-pan yet penetrating eyes. Phyliane felt the chill from his piercing glare as the winter also brought forward. And it was freezing! I’m sorry Mr. Woods.” She brought his slippers and placed them by his feet while apologizing. She should have called to ask if he was coming back. “I said not to mind me, but this is my home. I’m not happy that you locked me out.” It took awhile before Calyx coldly blurted. I’m sorry Mr. Woods. Next time, I’ll call in advance to check if you're coming back. I’ll lock the door if you have no plans to return.” Calyx uttered, “I’ll inform you when I’m going on business trips. I’ll be home every day unless I tell you otherwise. Don’t call me. I’m a busy man. I don’t have time to take your tiresome calls.” Phyliane was dumbfounded, “Oh…” she answered. Whatever he said then. This was his place. He was the boss. “Mr. Woods, do you want any supper?” Since he worked until late, Phyliane asked out of kindness if he was hungry. “I don’t have the habit of eating at midnight. It’s fattening.”
