Chapter 1 The Robby

1186 Words
On our 10th wedding anniversary, I was unexpectedly caught up in a robbery. The kidnapper pointed a g*n at me and demanded a ransom from my family. I called my husband, but all I got was his anger. "I told you I'm in a meeting, can't you stop calling? You're not going to die!" But I saw my husband, who claimed to be in a company meeting, walking past the onlookers with his first crush. Later, I was successfully rescued, but in the chaos, a bullet pierced my lower abdomen, and blood spilled all over the place. It was then that I found out I was pregnant, but I lost it! Lying in the ambulance, I called my husband, and all I got was his heartless scolding. "Are you annoying or not? I said I'm in a meeting, can the doctors at the hospital let you die!" After I recovered, the 10th wedding anniversary gift I gave him was a divorce agreement. ***** "I said I was in a meeting. Could you have stopped calling me? If the people in the company had found out, I would have lost all my face!" As soon as the phone connected, Ryan Clark began to scold furiously. With a trembling voice, I said, "I had been kidn*pped. Bring money..." "You wouldn't die! Didn't you have money? Redeem yourself! You were always playing petty tricks all day long! I said I would go back to spend our anniversary with you in the evening. Now stop harassing me!" Ryan's anger was about to spill out through the phone. Having been married to Ryan for ten years, I knew his career had always been above mine. Even then, when I was being pointed at the head with a g*n by a robber, he didn't care. Despondently, I put down the phone and tried to negotiate with the robber. "Let me go. I could give you as much money as you wanted." The robber relented. "I wanted five hundred thousand dollars." I didn't reply because I saw the person who had told me in the morning that he was going back to the company for a meeting, the person who had scolded me on the phone. He was walking past the onlookers with a woman, holding her hand and smiling. I was also very familiar with that woman, Nora Campbell, my husband's first crush. No matter how many times he changed his phone, there had always been her photo in his album. The photo album treasured at home was also full of her photos and group photos of the two of them. But there had never been a photo of me. His social software never posted our group photos either. Because he had said he didn't like taking pictures. With trembling hands, I dialed his number again but saw him hang up impatiently. Then he turned his head and talked gently to his first crush with a smile. He held her hand and even helped her block those who might bump into her. But every time I went shopping with him, he would impatiently shake off my hand, and the reasons were different every time. He also walked very fast and was simply unwilling to walk with me. My eyes burned, and I couldn't help shouting. "Ryan! Save me!" I was there. I was being pointed at the head with a g*n by a robber! Look back at me. Ryan in the crowd turned his head. His gaze glanced over, and then he frowned impatiently and turned back. He left, holding Nora's hand. The stabbing pain in my heart made me almost unable to support my body. 'Ryan, you clearly saw me. Why didn't you save me?' I thought. The robber urged me. "Transfer the money to me now, and I will let you go immediately." I was crying so hard that I couldn't reply, but there was a commotion in the crowd. Rescue workers finally arrived. After a long standoff, several policemen finally restrained the robber together. In the chaos, I heard a bang. In the next second, a sharp pain suddenly came from my abdomen. Blood flowed all over the ground. "Call an ambulance quickly!" "The hostage is injured! Shot in the lower abdomen and bleeding a lot!" "She is in danger. Save her quickly!" The surrounding voices were chaotic and extremely noisy. I was in so much pain that my face turned pale, and I almost fainted. "The bleeding of the injured person is a bit abnormal." "It seems a bit excessive... No, she had an embryo! The embryo flowed out with the blood!" "She is pregnant! The bullet penetrated her lower abdomen and injured the uterus. The child is gone too!" I suddenly grabbed the hand of the medical staff and asked her with wide eyes and fury. "What did you say?" 'How could it be? How could it be? How could this happen?' I thought. The intense pain in my heart and body made me cry out in pain. 'I lost my child! I lost my child! How could I have a child at this time!' I shouted inwardly. I had been married to Ryan for ten years. I had always longed for a child, but he didn't want one. Every time he would watch me take birth control pills and not let me get pregnant. He had cut off my chance of having a child, but I didn't blame him. I knew he wasn't ready to be a daddy yet. But now there was a child of ours in my belly! I didn't even know it existed before I lost it! I broke down and cried loudly. 'How could this happen? How could this be?' "Don't be excited! You can't be excited! Your body can't withstand great joys and sorrows!" said the doctor. I struggled to take out my phone and call Ryan. "I'm in the hospital... I, we..." I wanted to say that we had a child, but it was gone. I was crying so hard that I couldn't speak. But Ryan scolded impatiently. "Are you annoying? I said I was in a meeting. Don't disturb me anymore!" "Can the doctors in the hospital let you die!" I wanted to speak, but then I heard a coquettish voice from the other end of the phone. "Ryan, come quickly. My clothes are all wet..." "Okay, I'll come right away," Ryan responded softly. Then he said coldly to me, "I'm busy now. Solve your own problems. Don't bother me anymore!" I opened my mouth, but the phone had already been hung up. I wanted to ask him what he was doing with Nora. Why on our anniversary would he be with Nora? Did he still remember that today was our tenth wedding anniversary? I wanted to ask him why he didn't come to save me when I was kidn*pped by a robber. Why was our child gone? My consciousness gradually dissipated, and my gaze dropped. I saw the gifts I had carefully prepared for our tenth wedding anniversary with Ryan scattered on the ground and trampled to pieces.
