I sent the divorce papers to Ryan's company and home. He would sign one of them eventually.
Ryan's call came quickly. His voice was annoyed. "Didn't we agree that it was over? Why did you send the divorce papers again?"
I asked lightly, "Yes, we agreed, but did you keep your promise?" Although I left before the movie started that day, I knew Ryan definitely hadn't come back to find me.
"I..." Ryan paused, then quickly said, "I came back the next day! I clearly did what I said I would do!"
I sighed, feeling that Ryan was being stubborn. Perhaps it was so many years of habit that made him unable to accept the divorce.
I asked him, "Why don't you accept the divorce?"
